Only 3 more days! Our pop-up shop's last day open is Tuesday, August 11.

We Fix Old Stuff will reopen for repair intake in a month or two, details TBD.

In the meantime, we're still providing quotes for repair work. Responses may be a little slower than usual while we move, but please keep sending us photos and details - we're happy to take a look and provide an estimate in advance.

We'll share when and where we're reopening as soon as all the details are confirmed.

The owner of this perfume bottle holder adored it and wanted to see it restored rather than replaced.

Several metal components had significant oxidation, and the original weight inside the base had completely corroded away.

We cleaned and refinished the surviving parts, fabricated a new custom weight for the base, and chemically finished the new brass components to blend with the existing gold-toned metal.

It now stands properly, functions as intended, and looks like itself again.

The online shop is open, the website is updated, and this Bausch & Lomb task lamp from the 1930's is extremely cool.

The socket slides to adjust the beam spread from tight and bright to wide and soft. Practical, beautiful, and very satisfying to use. We love when an object is this good at being itself.

Only a small selection is online. Come see the rest in the shop before August 11.

Our pop-up is now open through August 11!

We Fix Old Stuff is your neighborhood repair shop: a place to repair, restore, and customize your stuff while connecting with the people who know how.

If we can't repair it, we probably know someone who can. We aim to be a resource and knowledge hub for this work and the community around it.

We believe the best objects aren’t just beautiful, they’re built to last. If you have something that needs some TLC, bring it by. We'd love to help.

Behind the scenes of this Spanish brass chandelier: a full restoration and rewire, every component carefully considered. No one will ever see this once it’s closed up, but craftsmanship lives in the details — tidy connections, clean runs, and respect for every component.

A client brought us a vintage wallpaper roller and asked if it could become a lamp. (Spoiler: it could.)

We added a brass base with a hidden weight for stability, replaced the rusted interior rod with a sturdier one, and modified a vase cap for a perfect fit at the top. Every metal piece — base, cap, neck, socket shell, and saddle — was antiqued and waxed to match the roller’s tone, so it all feels like one continuous object.

We finished the piece with a new socket, a twisted cloth cord, a rebuilt vintage plug, and a felted base underside. The client will add their own shade, but the hard part’s done. It’s a lamp now.

A client brought us one of a matching pair of silver-plated candlesticks, its candle cup snapped clean off. She’d been told it needed soldering, but that would’ve risked damaging the plating.

Instead, we drilled, tapped, and threaded a new mechanical connection — no heat, no visible repair line. The cup now sits securely again, perfectly aligned, as though it was never broken at all.
