Today was my first day back to work in one of my gardens since my baby was born. It felt so good to have my hands in the dirt again. So hey Dirty Hands Gardening clients, I'll be starting back up 2 days a week for the fall and hopefully back to full time by the spring! I've missed you

Bert and I have received so many kind messages asking for updates on baby Bert, and we’re so grateful for the love and support.

We’re slowly settling into life as a family of three. Baby Bert is doing well in the NICU — he’s steadily gaining weight and, thankfully, has no health complications. He is absolutely beautiful, sweet, and perfectly smooshy.

Every day, we read to him and are there for two of his feedings. His favorite part of the day is “kangaroo time,” which is skin-to-skin cuddling — it’s just as special for us as it is for him.

We’re not sure yet when he’ll be able to come home, as he still has a few important milestones to reach. But your continued love and support mean the world to us.

We’re incredibly close to reaching our GoFundMe goal, and we’re so thankful to everyone who’s donated. One day, when Bert is older and asks about his early days, we’ll be able to tell him how a whole community wrapped him in love and helped lift us up during this time.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. 💛

It’s been 25 days since I was admitted to the hospital, and every single day has been a gift for Baby Bert. Each morning brings the same question: Will today be the day my son is born?

This past week has brought some new health challenges, and with them, more changes in plans. But overall, we’re hanging in there—and staying strong, one day at a time.

We’re incredibly close to reaching our GoFundMe goal, and every share or donation makes a difference. If you’re able to help us cross that final milestone, we’d be so grateful.

Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for the love and support. 💛

Thank you all so much for the generous donations to the GoFundMe for Baby Bert and me 🧡. As many of you know, this journey is a long one. I have about a month left in the hospital 🏥 before Baby Bert arrives, followed by what may be a month-long stay for him in the NICU 👶💛.

We’ve been deeply touched by the support pouring in from all corners of our lives—from lifelong friends like Lizzy and Jackie (friends since kindergarten! 🎒), to my former Brownie troop leader Susanne 🌟, to newer friends like Molly 💕, and my amazing gardening clients: Ellen, Anna, Aimme, Lauren, Barbra, and Melissa 🌿🌼.

We’re nearly halfway to our fundraising goal! 🎯 Your donations have made a world of difference—helping to ease some of the stress during this uncertain time. If you’re able to share 📲 or donate 💖, it truly means so much. Even a $10 donation is incredibly meaningful and deeply appreciated 🙏.

We also heard there were some hiccups with our baby registry 🎁, but I believe those are now fixed. If you’d prefer to celebrate with us in that way, our address is listed on the main registry page under our names 🏡.

With love and gratitude,
Miranda, Bert and Baby Bert

💙 Asking for Support During a Difficult Time 💙

Hi everyone,

I never imagined I’d be writing something like this, but our family is going through an incredibly challenging time right now. I’m currently in the hospital for what will be a 6-week stay, and once I’m discharged, our newborn son will still need to remain in the NICU for about a month.

This unexpected journey has brought not only emotional stress but also a significant financial burden. With the sudden loss of income and rising expenses, our savings are being stretched to their limit.

We’ve set up a GoFundMe to help with medical costs, travel, and basic living expenses during this time. If you’re able to donate or even just share the link, it would mean the world to us:

We've also created a baby registry for those who have asked how they can help with essentials for our little one:

Every bit of kindness—whether it’s a donation, a gift from the registry, a share, or simply keeping us in your thoughts—helps more than you know.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love, support, and encouragement. 💙

As some of you may know, I’m currently in the hospital at Mission in Asheville, where I’ll be staying until Baby Bert arrives. Thankfully, both of us are stable and healthy, but it looks like I’ll be here for at least six weeks. While I was so looking forward to having a baby shower with all of my amazing friends, family and clients, the situation has made that impossible. Bert and I are hoping that, even though we can’t have a traditional shower, you’ll still celebrate Baby Bert with us from afar by participating in our baby registry.

🍼 Here’s our registry link: www.babylist.com/list/miranda-clarke

Also, keep an eye out for a GoFundMe link coming in the next few days. It will help us with the unexpected costs of this very long hospital stay, travel, and other expenses that have come up. Your support in any form means the world to us.

I will not be opening Dirty Hands Gardening until our community is in a more stable position. Letting you know that I will be available for cleanup after that. Please do not come to Old Fort Black Mountain or Swannanoa unless you're offering Aid.

06/28/2023

Dirty Hands Gardening will not be running from July 1st to July 6th. I will be in Missouri helping my husband's family after the loss of a family member.

05/16/2023

Dirty Hands Gardening will be operating on a limited schedule this week as I adjust to my husband being in Kansas with a sick family member. Many of you also know we had an unexpected move this past month as well as a greenhouse disaster, so please bear with us during this time of adjustment.
