Yesterday was an exciting milestone for L Denton Consulting, and I am incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make it so special.

A huge thank you to the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce for hosting our ribbon cutting and for the support, encouragement, and resources they have provided since I joined. I am proud to be a Chamber member and excited to continue building relationships within the Joplin business community.

To everyone who took time out of their day to attend, celebrate with us, and support L Denton Consulting — thank you. Having so many clients, friends, family members, fellow business owners, and community members in the room was incredibly meaningful.

I started L Denton Consulting with the goal of providing practical, approachable HR support to small businesses throughout the Four States, and yesterday was a pretty incredible reminder of just how supportive this community is of small businesses and the people behind them.

I’m excited to officially celebrate the ribbon cutting for L Denton Consulting with the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce today at 11:00 a.m.

In case you haven't been outside recently...... IT'S TOASTY!!!

If your employees are working outside today, keeping them safe from the heat is part of the job.

Heat illness can develop quickly, especially during long shifts, heavy physical work, or limited access to shade and water. Make sure employees have regular breaks, plenty of water, and a way to cool down when needed.

One outdated HR policy could cost your business far more than the time it takes to keep it current.

Employment laws, agency guidance, and court decisions are constantly changing. If your policies don’t change with them, you could expose your business to unnecessary complaints, investigations, or costly legal disputes.

The EEOC’s latest announcement is a great example.

The EEOC recently voted to rescind its longstanding affirmative action interpretive guidelines and related compliance guidance. In simple terms, affirmative action refers to policies intended to increase employment opportunities for groups that have historically faced discrimination. For decades, the EEOC’s guidance helped employers understand when voluntary affirmative action plans were permitted under Title VII. By rescinding that guidance, the EEOC is signaling a different approach to how it interprets and enforces the law going forward.

While Title VII itself has not changed, the guidance employers have relied on for decades has. That makes this a good time to review hiring, promotion, and other employment practices to ensure they’re based on current guidance rather than outdated interpretations.

A little sneak peek into one of our latest projects 👀

We recently wrapped up work on an OSHA compliance and safety program buildout for a medical office, including:
• OSHA standards applicable to healthcare
• Bloodborne pathogen procedures
• Exposure control planning
• Safety responsibilities and documentation processes
• Required compliance policies and training structure

Projects like this are a good reminder that compliance is a lot easier to build proactively than fix reactively.
