Solar and roofing have a reputation problem — and it's earned. The industry is full of high-pressure sales tactics that homeowners hate. We refuse to play that game. 🚫

Here's our promise — what you will NEVER get from Here's our promise — what you will NEVER get from :

❌ "Today-only" pricing that disappears tomorrow. If a deal is real on Monday, it's real on Friday. Pricing pressure is a sales trick, not a benefit.

❌ Fake countdowns or limited-time gimmicks. Real businesses don't need countdown timers. Either the numbers work for your home or they don't.

❌ Salespeople refusing to leave your home. You set the timeline. If you need a week to think, you get a week. If you want us out in 30 minutes, we're out.

❌ Rushing you into a contract you haven't read. We hand you the contract. You take it home. You read it. You ask questions. THEN you sign — or don't.

What you WILL get:
✅ Honest information about your home

✅ Real numbers — installation cost, monthly payment, what you'd save

✅ Time to think it over with your spouse, family, accountant

✅ Straight answers to every question

We win the long game because we don't pressure-sell. Every customer who feels respected during the sales process becomes a customer who refers their neighbors. That's how a business actually grows.

If you've been burned by another company's pressure tactics, drop a comment. We've heard the stories. We promise to be different.

The same 5 questions we get every single week. Here are the straight answers. 📋

Q: How long does the install actually take?
A: About 6-8 weeks from contract signing to your panels turning on. The install day itself is just one day — most systems go up in 6-8 hours.

Q: What happens if I sell the house?
A: Owned systems transfer with the home and typically increase your sale price. Leased systems can be assigned to the new buyer, who takes over the monthly payments.

Q: Do solar panels really work in winter?
A: Yes — cold actually IMPROVES panel efficiency (heat reduces it). And on snowy days, snow on the ground reflects light onto the panels for a production boost. Annual production accounts for seasonal variation.

Q: Will solar work during a power outage?
A: Only if you also have a battery (like a Tesla Powerwall). Standard grid-tied solar shuts off during outages for utility worker safety. Battery storage is what keeps the lights on.

Q: Is my roof too old for solar?
A: Rule of thumb — if your roof has 10+ years of life left, you're good to install solar on it now. If it doesn't, replace the roof first and we can do both projects together.

"Does the color of my roof actually matter?" Short answer: yes, more than you'd think. 🎨

Lighter colors reflect heat. Darker colors absorb it. The difference can be up to 50°F in surface temperature on a hot sunny day — and that heat doesn't stay on the roof, it transfers into your attic, into your living space, into your power bill.

The color cheat sheet:

🤍 WHITE / LIGHT GRAY — coolest. Reflects 60%+ of solar heat. Best for hot climates.

🟫 BEIGE / TAN — solid middle. Reflects ~30-40%. Good neutral.

🟤 DARK BROWN — absorbs significant heat. Common in older homes that prioritize aesthetics over efficiency.

⬛ BLACK — hottest. Absorbs 90%+ of solar heat. Drives up cooling costs all summer.

The good news: modern shingles can be designed with "cool roof" technology — pigments that reflect more heat without compromising the look you want. Even a darker-LOOKING shingle can be designed to perform like a lighter one. (GAF makes several of these.)

If you're planning a roof replacement, this is a free upgrade that pays off every summer for the next 25+ years. Worth thinking about.

What does a Tesla Powerwall actually do for you? Most people only know about the blackout part. ⚡

There are 3 jobs a battery does in a solar home — and the outage protection is just one of them:

☀️ DAY: Store excess solar
On a sunny day, your panels often produce MORE than your house uses. Without a battery, that excess flows to the grid for pennies of credit. With a battery, it gets banked in YOUR house. You use what you made.

🔌 NIGHT: Power through blackouts
When the grid goes down, most solar systems shut off for safety. A Powerwall lets you keep running — lights, fridge, internet, AC, the critical stuff. Hurricane season homeowners get it instantly.

💰 PEAK: Beat expensive rates
When utilities charge premium rates during 2-7 PM, you pull stored power from your battery instead of from the grid. You only buy electricity when it's cheap.
Solar = generation. Battery = control over WHEN you use what you generated. Two pieces of one smart system.

We're Tesla Powerwall Certified Installers. If you're already planning solar, adding battery while we're on the roof is much cheaper than coming back later.

The biggest energy leak in your home isn't where you think it is. 🏠

Most homeowners think about windows, doors, drafty corners. The actual answer for most homes is the ATTIC. Per the U.S. Department of Energy, up to 25% of your heating and cooling can escape through an under-insulated attic.

3 ways to check if YOUR attic is bleeding money:

✅ CHECK 1: Can you see the wood beams (joists)?
If yes, your insulation is below the joist level — you need more added on top. Modern code recommends insulation ABOVE the joists, fully covering them.

✅ CHECK 2: Is your A/C running constantly in summer?
A roof attic can hit 140°F+ on hot days. If that heat is bleeding into your living space, your A/C is fighting a losing battle 24/7.

✅ CHECK 3: Ice dams on your roof in winter?
Attic heat melts snow at the top of your roof, which refreezes into ice at the cold eaves. Classic sign of poor attic insulation.

Adding attic insulation is one of the cheapest, highest-ROI upgrades in home improvement. Often pays for itself in 2-3 years through energy savings.

If you're already getting a new roof, this is the perfect time to do it — we can do both at once.

Why we put a drone over every roof we quote. 🚁

The old way: contractor climbs a ladder, eyeballs the roof from one corner, gives you their "professional opinion." You trust them or you don't.

The HmeWorx way: 4K drone footage of your entire roof, every angle, every shingle, every detail. You see exactly what we see. No hiding damage. No guessing. No "trust me."

What you get:

📹 4K HD footage — every shingle in detail. Spot what a ground-level walk-around would miss.

🛡 Safer — no one climbing a 20-year-old roof during an inspection. Old shingles are slippery and brittle.

⏱ Faster — full inspection in about 15 minutes. We're out of your hair quick.

💾 Permanent record — every drone session is recorded. If you need it for an insurance claim later, the footage is documented and timestamped.

Transparency is a competitive advantage. The companies hiding behind "we'll handle it" are usually the ones charging you for problems that aren't there — or missing problems that are.

Free drone inspection, no obligation, no pressure. Comment INSPECT or send us a message.

Peak summer means peak rates. Most homeowners don't realize this is happening. 🌡️

When the heat dome settles in and everyone's AC is fighting the sun at once, your utility company often charges UP TO 3x the normal rate during peak hours (typically 2 PM to 7 PM on hot days).

The 3-part reality:

🔥 Why it's happening: Statewide AC demand spikes. The grid scrambles to keep up. Utilities pass the cost straight to you in time-of-use pricing.
🔥 Who pays: Every homeowner without solar + battery storage. You're charged the premium rate exactly when you need the most power.
🔥 How solar helps: Your panels produce maximum power during the same hours rates spike. With a battery, you store cheap morning power and use it during expensive peak windows. Net result: you barely touch the grid when it's most expensive.

The hottest months are when solar earns its keep the hardest. If your bill jumped this summer, that's the math you're feeling.

"Will solar actually add value to my house if I sell?" Real answer with real data. 📈

Zillow analyzed thousands of home sales and found that homes with solar panels sold for 4.1% more on average than comparable homes without solar. On the median U.S. home value, that's a $9,274 boost in sale price.

A more recent SolarReviews study replicating Zillow's methodology in 2024-2025 found that gap has grown to ~6.9% / ~$25,000 more on average — buyers are valuing solar more as energy costs rise.

What you need to know if home value is on your mind:

📈 OWNED systems add value. Cash purchases and financed/loan systems both count.
📈 LEASED systems don't add the same value — because the buyer takes on a contract, not an asset.
📈 Solar homes typically sell faster than comparable non-solar homes.
📈 Real estate listing photos with solar perform better in markets where buyers care about energy costs (which is now most of them).

If you're going solar, ownership = value. We can walk you through which financing structure makes the most sense for your situation.

Your house has vampires. They cost you ~$200 a year. 🧛

Per the U.S. Department of Energy and the National Resources Defense Council, the average American household wastes $100-$200 per year on "phantom load" — electricity used by devices that are technically OFF but still plugged in.

The worst offenders:

🧛 Cable / DVR box — ~$25/yr (always recording, always on)
🧛 Gaming console — ~$20/yr (instant-on standby mode)
🧛 Phone chargers — ~$10/yr each, EVEN WITHOUT A PHONE PLUGGED IN
🧛 Coffee maker with digital clock — ~$8/yr just for the clock

It adds up. NRDC estimates phantom load accounts for 5-10% of total residential electricity use nationwide.

Two ways to fight back:

1. Smart power strips — auto-cut power when devices go idle. ~$30 each, pay themselves back in 3-4 months.
2. Generate your own power — if your house is going to keep some vampires, at least make them feed off solar instead of an ever-rising utility bill.
