Today is Pro-Life Day at the Louisiana Capitol. In honor of that, I'm happy to report that my bill (HB 1081), which creates the Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act, has just passed unanimously through the House Health & Welfare Committee.
Every year more than 1,000 innocent unborn children in Louisiana are victims of an inhumane practice known as dismemberment abortion. The procedure has been banned in at least three states and in many European countries due to its barbaric nature, and we should clearly ban it here. To learn more about this horrible procedure, and my legislation to prohibit it, click this link:

Thank you to all who have signed our petition, and called and showed up today to support the bill! The encouragement has been very effective! My colleague, Rep. Larry Bagley, noted during the hearing that his office in Desoto Parish received over 500 calls and emails in support (and zero in opposition) during the time of our hearing alone! Stay with us, as the bill now advances through the remainder of the legislative process.
We must protect all lives, especially those who can't speak for themselves.
