Over the past few weeks I have had the pleasure of working with a lovely woman who is in need of a wardrobe makeover. After spending the last few years taking care of everyone else, she finally is ready to enter the workforce again and start taking care of herself. We did 2 sessions of weeding out and purging in her closet . We donated 32 pairs of pants, 50 tops and many other miscellaneous items to charity. She had been ordering her clothes online from "A", and hiding in oversized sweaters and shirts and pants that were way too large. Then we made a list of what she needed to buy.
The really fun part was doing a personal shopping day with her. Yesterday we hit several stores, and she tried on some things that were out of her comfort zone plus a lot of basic wardrobe staples. I brought her different sizes as needed and she tried on at least 100 things over the course of the day. We figured out which styles are best for her body type and comfort zone. She realized that she's not a size large - she's actually a small to medium, and not a size 10 pant, but actually a 4-6. We found some really fun and beautiful styles, and she even bought 3 dresses when she had said she hated dresses! In the end it was so touching when she cried tears of joy and relief after realizing how beautiful she could be and that she didn't need to hide. It was one of the most rewarding days of work ever!
