🌿 Botanical Infusions 🌿

One of the ways I create select products at Melody’s Heart is through botanical infusions.

A botanical infusion is the process of slowly steeping organic herbs, flowers, spices, or botanicals in rendered tallow over low heat for several hours. This gentle process allows the tallow to absorb many of the oil-soluble compounds naturally found in the plants.

Some of the botanicals I infuse include:

🌼 Chamomile
💛 Calendula
🌺 Hibiscus
💙Butterfly Pea Flower
🌿 Spearmint
☕ Coffee
🤎 Vanilla Bean
🧡 Clove

Each botanical offers its own unique characteristics, and many have been valued in traditional skincare for generations. I choose each one with intention, depending on the recipe I’m creating.

Once the infusion is complete, the botanicals are carefully strained, and the infused tallow becomes the foundation for select Melody’s Heart products.

Creating botanical infusions takes extra time, but I believe quality skincare begins with quality ingredients, thoughtful craftsmanship, and a process that can’t be rushed.

✨ From Suet to Tallow… The Heart of Handmade Skincare ✨

Many people ask what tallow is and where it comes from, so I thought I’d give you a little behind-the-scenes look.

This is beef suet—the hard fat that surrounds the kidneys. I carefully trim and chop it into small pieces before slowly rendering it over low heat. As it melts, the pure fat separates from the connective tissue, creating beautiful, nourishing tallow.

Once it’s rendered, strained, and purified, it becomes the foundation of many of my handcrafted products.

Why tallow?

🤍 Similar to the natural oils found in our skin
🤍 Leaves skin feeling soft and moisturized
🤍 A simple, traditional ingredient that has been used for generations

Every jar and balm starts with this time-honored process. It takes patience, but I believe handcrafted products are worth the extra care.
