Meet our RISE Events Chair, Mary!

Q: How did you first get involved with RISE?
A: After starting a small business, I became involved with the Chamber and saw an email about RISE’s Community Service Subcommittee. It seemed like a worthwhile opportunity, so I signed up and gradually became involved in more projects. I’m so grateful I did!

Q: What advice would you give someone thinking about getting more involved?
A: Just show up when and where you can! Building a supportive network is so important. If you do not want to attend alone, bring a buddy—or better yet, bring a few!

Q: Why do you think RISE is important for young professionals in our community?
A: A strong personal network can be incredibly valuable when you encounter challenges professionally or personally. RISE connects you with people across different industries who may have the experience, advice or answers you need someday.

Q: What is one skill you’ve developed or strengthened through RISE?
A: Feeling more comfortable at networking events! I used to find a corner and hope there was a cat to play with—and honestly, I still do. But serving in a leadership role has pushed me to start conversations, introduce myself first and step outside my comfort zone. It has helped me strengthen my communication skills and confidence.

Q: What are you most excited about for the future of RISE?
A: I’m excited to see our programming continue to grow. We’ve offered so many exceptional events this year, including Lunch & Learns, the Leadership Conference and RISE & Shines. It will be fun to see how they continue to develop. In other words…stay tuned! 😊
