✨ POA Basics – What You Should Know ✨
You’ve probably heard of a Power of Attorney (POA), but what does it actually do? A POA lets you choose someone you trust to act on your behalf if you can’t.
➡️ Two common types in Illinois:
• Healthcare POA – for medical decisions if you’re unable to make them.
• Property/Financial POA – for money, bills, and property matters.
Why does notarization matter?
✅ Confirms your identity
✅ Shows you signed willingly
✅ Adds extra protection if questions ever come up later
💡 Pro tip: Don’t sign your POA until you’re in front of the notary and bring a valid photo ID.
As a notary, I do not draft POAs, but I can notarize your signature when the document requires it. Have questions about notarizing a POA? Feel free to reach out before your appointment so we can make sure everything is in order.
