Dear Everyone...

Please accept my apology in advance, for this is a rant post. I'm probably going to sound like a whiny crybaby but so what.

I found my tiny crybaby hands in a move recently, so they seem fitting to insert as a photo prop. Some people have attacked me online the last few months for speaking up, using my voice, saying something that they disagree with, etc. I've gone quiet in response.
Maybe I have been allowing myself to get triggered because I am so very frustrated with things I can't control.
So if you are one of those people, who thinks I am a troublemaker or whatever, this post is definitely not for you. You are dismissed.

Ok, the rant.
I have requested a notification for the days that something involving jackhammering and other such heavy vibration machines are being used adjacent to our walls.

The amount of times I have entered to every piece of art being crooked on the walls the last year is countless.

Today I entered and there is art on the actual floor.
Damaged.

I look around, sure enough, everything is crooked.

I go outside, low and behold, the asphalt around the new fire hydrant has been replaced with concrete.

And of course there was a jackhammering procedure involved.

( Insert VERY VERY LENGTHY LOUD CURSING)

Our artists should not have to eat the costs of damages due to circumstances completely beyond any measure of our control.

Who is going to accept responsibility for this?
The City of Springfield, MO ?
Branco Construction?
City Utilities?

Inquiring artists want to know?

THE NEW CURBS LOOK AWESOME.
Pavement must be coming soon.

However, our actual pain in dealing with construction impacting our very real life is ridiculous and preventable. If systems are in place to protect all involved parties.

Seems like someone forgot about small business and the people who are affected by their choices and decisions. Even though I have made myself a squeaky wheel to alert the powers that be of our position and experience.

Moral of the story is...
I have plenty of reasons to be frustrated and I am actually managing the stress of this construction madness quite well, all things considered.

That is all.

I'm pretty sure the Johnny Depp's "The People's Artist" contest is a bit of a scam. 😅

It's DATA FARMING artists and their "voters".

Be careful out there my beautiful friends.

In November 2019, Jerome was loading his unsold paintings into his car to take to the dumpster.

14 years of work. 200+ canvases. No gallery representation. No buyers.

"I'm done," he told his wife. "I'm getting a real job."

His wife took one painting out of the car and propped it in the window of their Brooklyn apartment.

A gallery owner walking by stopped. Knocked on their door.

6 months later, Sotheby's New York sold Jerome's painting "Harbor House at 4 AM" for $2.4 million.

He now has a waiting list of 2 years for commissions.

The painting that almost went in the trash hangs in a private collection in Tokyo.

"My wife saved the one canvas that changed everything. She saw it when I couldn't." 🎨💰🇺🇸

You know that I was not going to broadcast at all about how difficult this construction has been for Fresh Gallery .

It makes me feel vulnerable and exposed.

Like someone is snickering about the situation and that doesn't feel good.

At first I said- NO WAY!!!
Then a few more set backs later, I had to start to reconsider.

Now, the page itself has not raised much cash in the way of financially stability, HOWEVER...

It has brought attention to the gallery and the public about how the construction is impacting us and others.

Several folks made a special trip over here this week to let us know that they support the mission we are on and are encouraging people to visit the gallery.

We are so very thankful for your energetic support.

Keeping art spaces open and high functioning should be a priority for us all.

This is a relatively bold statement that not everyone would be comfortable with, but those people probably could argue for weeks about what color of beige to use.

I can definitely spend hours, or days adding details, but also like to complete a project on the schedule I predict in the bid.

🛑 Having boring walls.

🚫 No beige allowed.

This is the kind of experimentation that I find the most inspiring and practical.

If the goal is to copy, you can always mimic...
But if you truly want to make something different, you have to do something no one has done before.
Like life experiments in uncharted territory is daunting.
It's uncomfortable.
And freeing, at the same time.

Almost finished with the whole house art project I am working on, stay tuned for more photos.

Helen Frankenthaler changed the way paint could behave.

In the early 1950s, she began pouring diluted paint directly onto unprimed canvas, letting it soak, spread, and stain the surface. Gravity, chance, and control all worked together. The result was neither strict abstraction nor pure accident, but something fluid, open, and atmospheric.

Her work doesn’t shout. It breathes. Color becomes space, mood, landscape, memory. You don’t “read” a Frankenthaler painting — you enter it.

Often linked to Abstract Expressionism and later Color Field painting, Frankenthaler helped bridge the two, influencing artists like Morris Louis and Kenneth Noland. Yet her work always remained unmistakably her own: intuitive, lyrical, and quietly radical.

Sometimes the most powerful gestures are the ones that let go.
