It’s almost here!! Save the Date! In just 10 short days, our insightful book: “Calladitas Rising: Reclaiming Your Power, Strength, and Voice” will launch. On Thursday, September 26th, it will be available on Amazon for a special introductory rate of $1.99 USD! Please help me get the word out! By supporting this anthology, you will help amplify the voices of Latina authors and celebrate our powerful stories of resilience and strength.

In my chapter, "Breaking the Cycle: Shattering the Silence to Disrupt Generational Trauma," I provide a peek behind the curtain and explore what it means to rise up through adversity. In this age of social media, we are trained to put our best foot forward, to sell ourselves and our lives, and to pretend we are living an ideal life when, in reality, things may be crumbling down around us.

Life has been incredibly horrific for some of us, yet we still rise. We still move forward, silently pushing on to survive another day. Over the past four years, I realized I had to break the silence to find community and healing to be the leader, mother, and wife I knew I could be. After reading the chapters in this groundbreaking book, I hope you find inspiration in your strength, power, and resilience and reach for your dreams.

A huge thank you to Esmeralda Aharon and Gabriela Ramírez Arellano for all your hard work and dedication to bring this book to life. I am grateful to be part of this with you and the other powerful Latinas in our community:

Mayra Taylor Garcia Jaclyn Noroño-Rodriguez de Calvo Alexandra Johnson Herrera Estephanina Martinez Connie Mayta Dorothy Smith Jacqueline Duty Leonor Branch

Let’s make our voices heard!

**Remember, watch for my posts on Thursday, September 26th to be able to purchase this book for only $1.99 USD!!!**

For the past 3 1/3 months, my co-founder, Cristina Fletes-Mach, and I have been hard at work. We have been setting the foundation for our collection to uplift the Latino community and highlight our roots in the fabric of the St. Louis Culture. Through the long days of busy concept planning, creating designs and a website, and vetting vendors, our hard work finally paid off with a fun photoshoot with my cousins and close friends to model our initial products! As two creatives who love to express our love for our culture, we are so excited to launch RAICES STL and build the community desire.

We believe that we all rise together. We all thrive together. We all have the potential to tap into our inner power and realize our wildest dreams.

Power is a provocative word that can bring out strong emotions in you depending on your past experience with it. You can either view it negatively based on how it has been used to control you or you can view it positively based on how it has benefited you.

Power, though, when you break it down is simply the ability to act on your desires, your dreams, and your values. In moments where you feel powerful, you not only reap leadership and career benefits, but you also thrive mentally and physically. Power, whether in your mindset or found in the structures around you, activates you and pushes you from surviving to thriving.

Now is not the time to be afraid of your power. Embrace it, activate it, and reap the benefits.

This past month has been busy taking my business from concept to implementation. As the weeks have flown by, these are the steps I have taken that have been most useful in helping me gain the clarity and structure needed to set a strong foundation for the future. As you think about starting yours, or if you are in the process of it, I recommend the following if you have not already.

- Commit to taking the time for deep self-reflection and clearly outlining your values. Answer the following questions: What are your personal strengths? What are your personal areas of growth? What lights you up inside? What are you truly passionate about and how do you choose to show up in the world? You may want to pay for a report to help you identify your strengths if you are having a difficult time naming your strengths. I recently took the CliftonStrengths for Leaders, and it was eye opening for me. Thank you for the idea, Deanna Finch!

- Develop a strong concept, but do not feel like you have to have all the details at first. Do not get stuck in perfectionism mode. If you feel yourself getting stuck, schedule a meeting or send an email to a prospect. No matter what, keep the ball rolling.

- Set up as many coffee dates and lunch dates as you can with your personal network. These individuals know you, they know your strengths, they know the market, they can connect you to others, and they can help you think through your concept and how you fit in. They can also see the barriers that need to be overcome. This will push you towards creating a well-developed, marketable business in the end.

- Stay true to yourself and your values as you integrate new feedback. You will get an overwhelming amount of information and opportunities each time you speak with someone new. Make sure you gauge each conversation against your strengths, your values, your vision, and integrate what feels in sync with what you want to create.

-Hire Coaches. Again, hire coaches. They will hold you accountable, help you work through the logistics, and make sure you are on track with your personal goals.

- Refine, Refine, Refine. You are crafting something that has the potential to change your life and immensely impact your community. Be flexible, be open to new iterations, and learn from the failures as you take off on this new journey.

- Finally…always remember to Be Authentically You. You are on this path for a reason. Remember that reason and choose how you show up in this world and how you wish to lead.

Are you a manager or leader in an organization? Do you want to bring out the best in your staff and tap into their natural talent to propel each of your and organization forward?

As a leader, our number one priority should be to effectively coach our employees and/or the individuals we believe in. This is harder than it seems, though, because it requires establishing and nurturing a strong relationship, individualization, and collaboration.

If you desire to successfully coach others, it is important you take the time to plan for this experience properly and create the space for them to grow in a psychologically safe environment. You need to understand why you want to coach this person, what the goals or outcomes you want to achieve, and how the experience furthers their own development goals. If done correctly, your company or organization can finally move past the stigma of the "uncoachables" and tap into the full talent and potential of your employees.

So, what are the steps to coach effectively?

1. It is crucial that before you start, you build a positive relationship with the individual and maintain it throughout the coaching process. Go into it showing the individual you care about their success, refrain from giving advice or advocating for your position, and make sure you effectively listen.

2. Understand that each individual is different, requires a different approach, and be willing to adapt. Before going into the meeting, effectively assess their role, their needs, their success factors, and their key challenges. If you use the wrong approach, it could damage the relationship.

3. In the meetings, when creating the SMART goal or plan, co-create it together. Ask questions until you get clear tactics and strategies, but make sure you collaborate to come up with it together. This ensures the individual takes ownership of it and takes action to implement the plan in step 4.

4. After the plan is created, agree to take action and eliminate any areas of confusion. Focus on the small wins, implementation, and encourage experimentation along the way, while providing your support as needed.

5. Consistently check-in and see how it is going. Create space to review progress, evaluate actions taken, adapt as needed, and reinforce responsibility.

I cannot wait to see what you accomplish together!
