One of my biggest accomplishments in life was getting my Masters degree. I love to learn, but as I got older living life became more difficult and that impacted my ability to learn.
I struggled to get my bachelors degree. My final grades were not where they needed to be to get accepted into a university for a Masters program. However, I asked for special consideration and was accepted on a probationary period. In other words, I had to prove myself to the university for the first semester.
At the same time I had gotten a new job at a marketing company working in a newly created position at the corporate office. It was going to require a lot of overtime. I had no choice but to accept the position because I had bills to pay and I had no other options.
At the time, I could not for the life of me understand how doing both (working on Masters degree and working new job) was going to work. For me, it was like having to climb a mountain and run a marathon at the same time.
But I did it. I gave them both everything that I had. All of my time, all of my energy, all of ME. I wanted them both just that badly. Crazy thing is not only did I do them both, but I excelled at them.
My Masters degree program was accelerated. It was supposed to take about a year and a half to complete. I finished in about 12 months. And in my first year on the new job I took over one of their major accounts, which they were at risk of losing, and managed to capture over $1 million in lost and unclaimed revenue for the company.
What I initially thought was impossible to do was absolutely possible, I just didn’t realize it at first. In fear and uncertainty I didn’t count myself out. I just did what I had to do and I got it DONE.
Make the impossible, possible. GO FOR IT!
