Quick website tip: When someone lands on your homepage, they should be able to answer three things within about five seconds:

What do you do
Who do you help
How do I contact you

If any of those are unclear, that is usually where to start. Not with a full redesign. Just clarity.

People move quickly, especially when they are browsing a website. The easier it is to understand what you offer, the more likely they are to stick around and take the next step. And for most businesses, that next step is the goal.

Simple. Clear. Helpful. That is what works.

This is my Papa. He's 95 years young and still carries his own groceries, vacations with his grandkids and great grandkids, and plays golf three times a week.

Watching him move through life with that kind of strength and independence is all the motivation I need.

I don’t love exercising… but I get up and do it anyway.

Sometimes we don’t do things because we love them. We do them because they are good for us.

Growth rarely comes from what is easy or exciting. More often it comes from simply showing up and doing the thing anyway.

And honestly, that mindset carries over into so many other areas of life and work.

For me, each day of exercise is an investment. An investment in my health, my family, my work, and the life I want to keep living for a long time.

Will I ever love exercising? Probably not.

But I love the idea of being 95 and still living life with that kind of strength, freedom, and joy.

One of the greatest gifts in business is long term partnerships.

Randy Martin and I have been working together since the early days of my business. Randy is the founder of Trailscape Inc., a private trail building company based in the Napa and Sonoma area of California. His team designs and builds some of the most thoughtfully crafted trails in some of the most beautiful landscapes you can imagine.

Over the years I’ve helped support their marketing in a lot of ways, from building their website to writing blogs, managing social media, creating postcards and magazine ads, and helping shape their overall marketing plans.

Working with Randy has also been a lot of fun for me because one of my favorite things in life is being outdoors. Hiking, camping, exploring… all of it. So learning about the art and science of trail building has been such a cool part of this partnership. Not to mention, Randy is a hoot!

One of the unexpected joys of this work is how much I learn from my clients. Every business is different, every craft has its own story, and I genuinely love getting a front row seat to the work people are so passionate about.

Recently Randy sent me this note. I laughed at the “perfectly irritating” part, but honestly… I’ll take it.

"Brooke has handled all of our social media and marketing support for the last five years and has been fantastic to work with.

Her follow up is unmatched. I even nicknamed her “perfectly irritating” because she always reminds me of the things I need to do.

She is an excellent listener and is usually able to execute most of my requests or edits on the first try. Her writing for our advertisements, social media, and marketing materials is both clear and creative.

Brooke has taken a significant load off of me as the CEO of Trailscape Inc. and has significantly strengthened our overall promotion and marketing efforts.

I’m very glad to be working with her and her team."

Long term clients like this are one of the reasons I love what I do.

Currently learning an entirely new platform and let me tell you… I feel like I’m back in school.

I’m building a brand new Shopify website for a second time client who very graciously trusted me as I expand my skill set into a new platform. Thankfully she’s the kind of client who laughs alongside me while we both learn and figure things out together.

There have been moments of frustration. Plenty of “why is this not working?” and “where in the world did that button go?” But also those little victories where something finally clicks and I find myself sitting at my desk thinking, “Okay… yes. We’ve got this.”

Every new platform comes with a learning curve, but I have to say there’s something really satisfying about not knowing exactly how to do something and figuring it out anyway.

And honestly, this project has been especially fun. It’s for an American Wagyu beef business on a fourth generation family farm. The cows. The land. The history. It taps right into my nostalgic, crunchy loving heart. Who knew building a beef website could be this enjoyable?

One thing I’ve learned over the years in business is that growth rarely comes from staying comfortable. Sometimes it looks like raising your hand, saying yes, and trusting yourself to figure it out along the way.

Turns out… beef and bravery pair quite well together.

Each year I choose a verse to anchor me, and this one will guide my 2026.

One thing that may surprise people is that I don’t really implement my New Year until February.

November and December are full in the best ways, so instead of rushing into January with big goals and expectations, I let January just be January. A month to reset, reflect, and gather my thoughts before moving forward.

For me, clarity comes after quiet. Not urgency.

So here at the start of February, I begin aligning my life and business again. Physically, mentally, and spiritually. Asking God to guide my steps and trusting that He will continue to do what He has always done.

Over the years I’ve learned this in both life and business:
Rushed goals rarely produce rooted growth.

Alignment first. Action second.

If January didn’t feel groundbreaking for you, maybe that’s okay. Maybe it was meant to be grounding.

Channeling my inner Olympian with these heart hands ❤️ and sending a little extra love today.

With Valentine’s tomorrow, I just wanted to say how much I truly love the people behind this little business of mine.

My clients.
The referrals.
The collaborators and teammates behind the scenes.
The ones who trust me with their ideas and a piece of something they’ve worked really hard to build.

As a business owner myself, I know how vulnerable that trust can feel. I never take it lightly.

So thank you. For the partnership, the friendship, and the chance to do work I genuinely love every day.

This past week slowed me down more than I planned.

After several days of not bouncing back, I found myself at urgent care trying to figure out what was going on. Turns out sometimes you catch one thing that turns into another and your body decides it’s calling the shots.

When you run your own business, that hits a little different.

There’s no one stepping in for you. No backup shift. Things don’t magically keep moving.

Which made me extra grateful this week.

Grateful for systems that let me work from home when needed.
For patient clients.
For supportive colleagues.
For family who stepped up to carry the load.

And thankful that over the years I’ve built a business that’s steady, flexible, and filled with really good people when real life happens.

A little reminder for my fellow business owners… your health isn’t a luxury. It’s what makes all of this possible.

Oftentimes, when things feel heavy and I need a quick dose of positivity, I reach for this little Winnie the Pooh quote book. Somehow it always gives me exactly the reminder I need.

Scrolling is easy.

So are my mom’s peanut butter Ritz cookies.
Addicting. Dangerous. Truly a gift to the world. Thank goodness she only makes them at Christmas. 😆

Both are great in moderation.
Both feel different when they become the main source of fuel.

Just a reminder that what we consume shapes how we think, create, and show up. In life and in business. 🍪

Running a business comes with a lot of little side jobs most people never see. Intake. Questionnaires. Contracts. Invoices. Payments. Taxes coming soon. All the things that live behind the scenes.

Over the years, I’ve learned that having solid systems in place doesn’t just keep things organized, it actually gives me more mental space and time. That’s where HoneyBook comes in.

I’ll be honest, the name isn’t my favorite, but the functionality more than makes up for it. I’ll also be the first to admit I’m probably underutilizing all the features it offers, which tells you how much value I’m still getting out of it even now. It’s flexible, customizable, and grows with your business instead of boxing you into one way of working.

Because I genuinely love it, I wanted to share that HoneyBook is running a January promotion where you can get 30 percent off your first year when you use my referral link (I posted it in the comments).

Helping other small business owners thrive matters to me. If you’ve been curious about finding a reliable and customizable way to manage clients, this is a great time to explore it. And if you’re hesitant or just want the real life rundown, send me a message. I’m always happy to share what’s worked for me.

Christmas gifts led to a fun surprise for our family... four tickets to a Green Bay Packers game! Giving the gift of an experience is a win for everyone, and there is truly nothing like a Packers game at Lambeau Field. (If you know, you know.)

The atmosphere is electric. Freezing temperatures don’t stop loyal fans from showing up whether they're shirtless, bundled head to toe in green and gold, or layered up in a headdress of animal fur. Pride runs deep, and showing up for this team is no small thing.

Watching that kind of loyalty got me thinking about my own work.

I may be a one woman team, but it’s always my goal to make the plays happen and be your biggest fan (I know...super cheesy, but true). I am definitely the over prepared Packer fan with all the layers on including heated socks. I don’t just want to collaborate alongside you, I want to understand your game, cheer you on, and help you win.

Because when I truly know your business, we can put our heads together and create something just as electric as the Green and Gold. 😉

✌️ Peace out 2025

This past year has been a rough one for our family, so I’m ready to see it out the door.

And even through the hard, there was growth and an abundance of blessings. Lessons learned. Perspective gained. Gratitude deepened.

Wishing you a peaceful end to this year and a grounded start to the next. See you in 2026!
