Q: How should you determine which gray shade to use?

A: Just check the back of your Sherwin-Williams color chip. If a gray-shade primer is recommended, it will be coded - P1 for the lightest gray, through P6 for the darkest - to tell you which shade of gray your primer should be tinted.

Paint

Updating your bathroom with a fresh coat of paint is the cheapest way to make the biggest difference. Be sure to use a water-based primer to protect your drywall from moisture.

Detail

For a simple way to add a custom look without the price, we suggest adding PVC wainscoting in your bathroom with an accenting wall color above.

Lighting

A bathroom can feel small and dark without the correct lighting. Let as much natural light into the room while still allowing the required privacy. Utilize mirrors and bright, large pictures to reflex existing light.

Incandescent to LED

The incandescent bulb has long been favored for its color and quality, says Gary Gordon, a New York lighting designer. "Everyone likes incandescent light simply because the human brain is use to it…"

Natural light will affect the way a color on the wall is viewed at various times of the day. The exposure of the room, i.e., north, south, west and east, will also affect our perception of the color. When testing a color, be sure to see a full days lighting in that space.
