Your best marketing is probably sitting in your DMs right now.

Just rotting away!

My client sent me a message after I scripted and edited a TikTok for her — her following had nearly doubled from that one post. And my first instinct was to just say “woohoo!” and move on.

But that message is literally the fastest way to show a potential client what I do and why it works. So instead of letting it die in my inbox, I turned it into a branded story graphic inside adobeexpress in about two minutes — and now it lives on my profile as a permanent Client Wins highlight.

Social proof doesn’t have to feel braggy, it just has to look intentional.

Adobe Express makes sharing these wins quickly and professionally SO DANG EASY. So go try it out for free at adobe.com/express

You already have the wins. Now do something with them.

It’s not your job to decide what your clients can afford. That is their call. Not yours.

The real shift wasn’t raising my prices — it was figuring out that I wasn’t pricing from the value I was delivering. I was pricing from the money story I grew up with.

Timestamp vlog of a day in my life as a self-employed content creator and stay-at-home mom to two toddlers (because past me would have loved to see this).

I truly had no idea what I was doing when I went full time freelance 10 years ago but gosh dang I’m sure glad I did it.

This is the highlight reel, obviously. It’s messier and harder than it looks on camera. But I get to be home with my kids while they’re little, do work I actually love, and build something that’s mine — and that was always the whole freaking point.

She didn’t know if it would work. She just knew she wanted her days to look like this someday.

This is the highlight reel, obviously. It’s messier and harder than it looks on camera. But I get to be home with my kids while they’re little, do work I actually love, and build something that’s mine — and that’s exactly what she was counting on.

My salary was cut by the COO when he learned I was making more than the male graphic designer on the team.

While the patriarchy was alive and well, I was (THANKFULLY) laid off a few months later and started freelancing that same week…

with that company being my first client as a full-time freelancer.

Ten years later I’m still working for myself and making more than both of those jobs ever paid me

And that COO was investigated for tax evasion by the FBI LOLLL

The universe really said ‘trust the process’ and I really had no choice but to comply. 😅💁🏻‍♀️

I used to think taking up space meant being louder or pushing harder.

Like, if I could just be brave enough to be the most attention grabbing person in the room, I’d have made it.

But this phase of life where I’m desperately trying to balance entrepreneurship and motherhood has made me realize taking up space is a lot quieter than that.

It means letting your own goals matter as much as the ones you’re pouring yourself into for everyone else.

It means saying “I’m tired” without immediately following it up with “but I’m fine.”

It means actually letting the people who love you help — instead of insisting you’ve got it handled when you very much do not lmao.

A few weeks ago I got to be in a room full of women doing exactly that. We slowed down, took up enough space to remember what matters to us, and I walked out remembering that my goals get to take up space too.

If you’re in St. Louis, Mocktails & Mindfulness with arcana.collaborative is tomorrow night and I promise you’ll be better for going!!

I worked for someone else for 14ish months of my professional career, and while I got a lot of great experience and gained a lot of confidence during that time, I also:
- was overworked and underpaid
- had my salary cut because the company was going under
- was laid off (because the company was indeed going under 😅)

While freelancing is less “predictable”, I’ve found it FAR more stable and empowering.

I was reminded of this when collective interviewed me about my 10 years of solopreneuriship last week during my trip to Austin and I can’t wait to share it with you when it goes live!

The votes are in and you guys got me out of my hotel room. Without you I probably would have ordered some Thai food and watched Summer House from bed because any time I get a toddler-free night I just want to rot.

But I’m sure glad you guys forced me to leave and go get dinner and I’m extra glad I got to see some bats because that was honestly really cool.

For those of you who said it was underwhelming, I think you just need to go underneath the bridge! Or you just went on a bad night. But I’m happy to report the bats realllllly turned out for me.

Overall I had a really fun solo evening out and about in downtown Austin and had even more fun in my DMs talking to you guys about what I should be doing.

Check back tomorrow and my Day 2 Austin vlog will be up and you can see what I’m up to here!

I still didn’t do the laundry today but I at least don’t have to go into Old Navy with two toddlers just to remove a security tag.

And now Elle has very cute new jeans. 👏 They now have a hole in them but that’s a problem for bohemianbabies to figure out.

I’m honestly feeling pretty accomplished tbh 🤷‍♀️
