Wow! Mother Nature sure caught up quick on what was a draught. Our area has transformed from dry cracked soil to overwhelming precipitation in a very short time. This is particularly harsh to building foundations as soil particles expand with moisture, thus creating hydrostatic pressure. Make sure to check for clogging of simple roof water sources (gutters) and existing drain systems this time of year with all the seeds shedding off trees.
We are here for any next steps needed-drain systems, runoff diversion, erosion. Summer schedule is going fast!

Week 3 Net Zero Storm Water Reclamation Facility

Well Pump Casing is constructed and in place.
Well pump is in place.
Felt liner is sealed.
Inflow and outflow piping is installed.
Rock backfill is complete.
The only items remaining are interior water line connection, interior electric connection, pump controller activation, pressure tank setup, float tether, soil backfill, and surface cover. The items remaining are pending county inspections and should be finalized within the next couple weeks. Big thanks to all of the trades on site, Drainscapes crew, and Trevor for the problem solving and creative solutions to make this system possible.
We will follow up with a final in upcoming weeks.

Week 2: Net Zero Storm Water Reclamation facility

Excavation and liners are in place. Collection chambers are in place. Sediment trap is constructed and in place. We are now fine-tuning the 2 access ports for the well pump and float indicator. This system will operate similar to a well, but with added features such as a “run-dry” shut off to protect the pump. The pump controller is extremely advanced and serves as remote control access for the operations of the well. The facility will collect all of the roof water while filtering, storing, and pumping back into the residence for non-potable reuse.

We are excited to break ground on the first residential “Net zero” build project in St. Louis. It is a zero carbon footprint structure. Our design includes constructing a stormwater facility that will collect and store the roof water for repurposing through a well-style plumbing system….All while satisfying local greenspace codes. The collected stormwater will be reused as a non-potable water source (toilets, showers, irrigation). The owner-client and all contractors involved are fantastic people with a shared passion. Drainscapes now offers Best Management Practice (BMP) Inspections for Stormwater Management facilities. BMP Inspections are predetermined inspections and maintenance for the proper non-polluting functionality of Stormwater collection systems. Grading projects, bio-basins, detention and retention basins, rain gardens, retention/infiltration wells, bio-swales, private and public storm sewer systems, and drainage systems all benefit from proper BMP programs. BMPs prevent “big” problems in the future. 1 annual BMP Inspection is included for each Drainscapes project site installed May 1, 2023 or later. 3 year extension BMP Inspection programs are also available. PROTECT YOUR INVESTMENT and help the earth.
BMP Inspections exclude pipe camera (scope) services. Pipe camera services can be offered if necessary for an additional cost.
