Against The Odds Mentoring Services Mentoring is a deeply personal and even emotionally vulnerable realtionship between two people where freedom is given to each other to be uniquely human.

We want to mature to the point where we see opportunity in every situation but especially in the difficult moments or when interacting with challenging people. Mentoring focuses on our thoughts and beliefs and how they become our actions and habits. Beliefs and values are deeply examined and challenged to determine whether or not they are congruent with the life we are wanting.

This can be so revealing. I know one of the things my husband desires is one of the things that is hardest for me to give. His love language is touch and I have to be still long enough to do that and present in the moment well enough to remember to do that for him. It's interesting how we are attracted to and choose someone, who needs things from us that are not natural for us to do or give.

"Irritated. Frustrated. Hurt. Those were the words in my mind as I grabbed my Bible and sat down to read. All I could do was think about the argument I’d just had with my husband.

So, I closed my Bible and decided to pray instead.

Somehow, this is the thought that penetrated my stubborn heart; God doesn’t want me to be a “fix-him” wife. God wants me to be a “love-him” wife.

Trying to fix him leads to such frustration, especially since he’s not always the one that needs to change.

As my heart started to shift to simply love him, I began to see progress in our marriage.

Do I still get frustrated and hurt? Of course.
