Wrong part. Failed part. Part that wasn't stocked. The cost shows up in your labor line, not your parts line - but it's a part problem, nonetheless.

Did you know? Shops using flat-rate pricing average 18% higher revenue per job than those running time-and-material.

The math isn't complicated: Flat-rate captures the full value of a job, regardless of how efficient the technician is. T&M rewards slow ex*****on and penalizes speed. If your best tech completes a job in 45 minutes that a newer tech takes 90 minutes on, your pricing model is punishing performance.

The transition requires buy-in and some rework on your most common job categories. But the shops that make the shift rarely look back.

The question isn't whether flat rate works. The question is whether your shop has the structure to support it.
