‼️HOW TO AVOID DESPERATION AS A JOB SEEKER‼️

Desperation occurs when one is in a position of lack, not in a position of plenty. It’s a feeling that we all have felt before but it’s critical to not show it—especially in the job search.

Here are some ✨tips✨ on how to offset desperation as a job seeker:

➡️Build momentum in your job search: apply , apply, apply to as many jobs as possible and keep conversations flowing (with recruiters and hiring managers/companies) to maintain a full pipeline

➡️In the flowing conversations with companies of interest, identify prospective salary ranges and requirements to be able to leverage your desired pay against new interest/opportunities that comes your way (I.e. you can say to a new recruiter who calls you and asks about your salary requirements: “I’m interviewing with a number of other companies and in those discussions, the total pay packages are between X and Y”).

Mimetic desire is the idea that people desire something because someone else desires it. Like when two kids are in a room and Kid A is playing with a toy; even if there are 99 other toys laying around, Kid B will want the toy that Kid A has.

If you exercise these tips above, you’ll be the toy that someone else has and that everybody wants 🧸🪀😉.
