I want to share one of the most powerful (and often overlooked) strategies when it comes to securing ongoing funding:

Send impact metric reports! EVEN when they’re not required.

Most organizations only communicate with funders when they have to. But the organizations that stands out getting funded again, are the ones who go above and beyond.

Guys, don’t just receive funding… build a new relationship.

When you take the time to send a simple impact update, you’re doing a few key things:
- Showing transparency
- Demonstrating stewardship
- Reinforcing trust
- Keeping your organization top of mind

And trust me… funders DO remember this.

What This Looks Like in Action 💯

After receiving an award, send:

1. A Thank You Letter
Express genuine gratitude. Let them know their support matters.

2. A Simple Impact Report (3–6 months later)
Include:
- What the funds were used for
- Key outcomes or wins
- Lives impacted (numbers + stories)

3. A Photo of Your Program in Action
This is HUGE. It brings your mission to life and helps funders see their impact.

Why This Works

When funders feel connected to your work, they don’t just give once, they:
- Give again
- Increase funding amounts
- Refer you to other funders

Pro Tip🔥

Even if a funder never asks for a report… Send one anyway.

This small step can set you apart from 90% of organizations.

If you’re not already building this into your funding strategy, now is the time. This is how you move from one-time awards to long-term funding relationships.
Happy Relationship building!

Funding isn’t luck… it’s strategy.

Too many nonprofits are stuck in the cycle of:
→ searching for random grants
→ submitting cold applications
→ getting denied
→ repeating the process

That’s not a funding plan… that’s burnout.

Let me show you what actually works 👇

My Funding Strategy Roadmap is built for results, not guesswork.

✔️ I scan 150+ funding opportunities
✔️ Prevet every funder for 30–40%+ alignment
✔️ Build a strategic pipeline (not chaos)
✔️ Focus on relationship-first outreach
✔️ Then execute targeted, high-quality applications

Because here’s the truth…

👉 Cold applications will not work.
👉 Misaligned funders waste your time.
👉 Grants alone won’t sustain your organization.

You need a stacked funding strategy that includes:
– Grants
– Sponsorships
– Partnerships
– Long-term funding relationships

And most importantly… a plan that actually moves the needle. This is how you go from scrambling for funding → to securing it consistently.

If you’re tired of guessing and ready to build a real strategy, let’s talk!

Most nonprofits and businesses approach grants the wrong way.

They chase random opportunities, spend weeks writing proposals, and hope something sticks. 🤷🏻‍♀️

That’s not a strategy. That’s gambling.

My funding strategy process is different. Before a single grant is written, I conduct a comprehensive scan of over 150 potential funding sources. Each opportunity is carefully vetted to determine whether it is actually worth pursuing.

I look at four key things:

Program alignment — Does the funder’s mission truly match the project?
Funding history — Have they supported organizations like yours before?
Award size and feasibility — Is the potential award worth the investment of time and effort?
Competitiveness — Based on past awards and funder guidance, what is our realistic chance of success?

From there, the list is narrowed down to the highest-potential opportunities with a strong likelihood of award.

The result is a clear funding roadmap designed to build momentum and stack funding strategically over time.

Grant funding is not about throwing applications at the wall and hoping one sticks.

It’s about strategy, alignment, and timing.

When done correctly, it creates a pathway for organizations to secure the funding they need to grow, expand programs, and make a greater impact in their communities.

If your organization is ready to stop guessing and start pursuing funding strategically, feel free to reach out.

Most Organizations Think Too Small When It Comes to Funding 🫣

Many nonprofits and mission-driven businesses believe funding comes from one grant, one donor, or one sponsor.

But the truth is…
The organizations that scale their impact understand Capital Funding Strategy.

A capital stack means layering multiple funding sources together to support a larger vision.

Instead of relying on one grant, we strategically combine funding streams such as:

• Federal and state grants
• Private foundation grants
• Corporate sponsorships
• Economic development incentives
• Energy efficiency funding
• Manufacturing or infrastructure grants

When these sources are strategically layered together, organizations can fund major projects like:

Facility expansions
Manufacturing upgrades
Sustainability improvements
Housing initiatives
Therapeutic and community programs
Community education and workforce programs

This approach transforms funding from survival mode into strategic growth mode.

Over the years I’ve helped organizations build funding strategies designed to pursue hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars in capital funding by structuring the right opportunities into a clear strategy.

Because the truth is…

Funding isn’t just about writing grants.
It’s about building the right strategy.

If your organization has a big vision but you’re unsure how to fund it, there may be opportunities waiting that you haven’t discovered yet.

One of the biggest shifts a nonprofit can make is adopting a business mindset within its funding department.

Would you start a business with no money invested in it?

Passion for a mission is powerful. It is the reason organizations begin in the first place. But passion alone does not sustain programs, pay staff, expand services, or create long-term stability. Sustainable impact requires strategy.

The most successful nonprofits treat funding the same way a strong business approaches revenue: with intentional planning, diversified income streams, clear metrics, and long-term growth strategies.

This means moving beyond simply applying for the occasional grant and instead building a comprehensive funding ecosystem that includes:

• Strategic grant pipelines
• Corporate partnerships and sponsorships
• Major donor cultivation
• Community giving campaigns
• Data-driven impact storytelling
• Strong financial and operational infrastructure

When nonprofits begin to operate this way, something remarkable happens. Funding becomes less reactive and more predictable. Leadership can plan ahead. Programs expand. Communities receive more support. Donors feel confident investing in organizations that demonstrate both heart and stewardship.

A strong funding strategy doesn’t just sustain your mission it launches it into a new trajectory of impact.

Feel free to message me to learn what funding strategies may be waiting for you and your organization.

There is something deeply intimate about the rhythm of creative writing… the pause before a sentence forms, the careful choice of words, the way a story slowly reveals its heart. It is not only about telling what happened, but about capturing feeling, atmosphere, and the subtle beauty hidden inside human experience. Each story becomes a living thread woven from memory, imagination, and truth.

In this romantic flow of composition, storytelling becomes more than communication, it becomes connection. A well-told story lingers, echoing long after the last line is read, reminding us that words have the power to heal, inspire, and illuminate the unseen corners of the soul.

*Deep sigh*

Creative writing has a romantic flow, a gentle rhythm where imagination, emotion, and language come together to form meaningful stories. It’s the art of shaping words into something alive, where each sentence carries tone and intention, and a narrative unfolds with purpose. Storytelling draws people in, helping them see the world through a different lens, feel deeper connections, and understand the human experience in a way that facts alone never could.

But competitive grant writing is a very different kind of storytelling.

All the romance of creative expression gives way to discipline, precision, and strategy. A powerful grant proposal is built on deep research, carefully constructed narratives, and measurable impact. It requires understanding the funder’s priorities, aligning programs with real community needs, and translating vision into concrete results. Every word must serve a purpose. Every claim must be supported. Every outcome must be measurable.

It means building the perfect narrative backed by evidence and expressing impact through metrics, outcomes, and clear evaluation plans. It means finalizing budgets that make sense down to the dollar, coordinating with leadership, and getting board members aligned often right up against a deadline. It requires organization, persistence, and the ability to hunt down details until everything fits together seamlessly.

Grant writing is pressure.
Grant writing is precision.
Grant writing is strategy.

And honestly… if you don’t enjoy the pressure, if you don’t enjoy the research, if you don’t enjoy chasing down information and turning it into a winning proposal then it makes sense to hand the baton to someone who does.

That’s me.

I thrive in the process, digging into the research, shaping the narrative, aligning the numbers, and delivering competitive proposals that give organizations their best chance at funding. I don’t just write grants, I build funding strategies designed to move missions forward.

The looming federal government shutdown is now a reality 🤪 and the consequences are serious for many nonprofits.

When shutdowns happen, the ripple effects are immediate:
⚠️ Government-funded nonprofits may see delayed payments or contracts left in limbo.
⚠️ Nonprofits without federal funding may still feel the strain as furloughed workers and struggling families increase the demand for essential services.

So how can grant writers help right now?

Short-term solution: Research and apply for emergency grants. These aren’t always widely advertised, but they do exist. You can make a strong case if your funding has been cut off or your demand has increased.

Long-term solution: Diversify your grant strategy. Build a calendar that balances community foundations, family foundations, corporate, and government grants. A diversified pipeline reduces vulnerability to shutdowns.

When things feel overwhelming, I remind myself: I can’t control Washington, but I can control strategy. That’s where I’m focusing my energy… building resilient funding plans for the nonprofits I serve through the year’s end. 💪

Building a dream, launching a nonprofit, writing a grant, or chasing a new beginning it all requires patience, consistency, and faith in the process.

At Living Proof Grant Writing, I believe slow, steady steps create lasting impact. The waiting isn’t wasted it’s where growth happens, where skills are sharpened, and where purpose takes root.

🌱So keep showing up. Keep pressing forward. What you’re building is worth every moment.

🚀 The Strategies Behind a Successful Investor Pitch 🚀

When it comes to securing investors, it’s not just what you say, it’s how you show it. A strong pitch deck isn’t about overloading with text. It’s about telling a story that makes investors lean in and say, “I want to be part of this.”

Here are the core strategies behind a winning pitch:

✨ Keep it concise: 10–12 slides max. Investors want clarity, not clutter.
✨ Start with the problem: What gap or pain point are you solving?
✨ Show the solution: Your unique product, service, or model.
✨ Highlight traction: Proof that your idea is working (customers, partnerships, early wins).
✨ Show the numbers: High-level financials and projections that demonstrate growth potential.
✨ The Ask: Be specific about how much funding you need and what it will fuel.

📊 Pro Tip: Think in visuals, not paragraphs. Use charts, photos, and bold statements to spark conversation.

Remember, a pitch deck isn’t the full business plan…it’s an invitation to a deeper conversation.

💬 What’s the #1 thing you’d want to communicate if you were pitching your idea to investors?
