Virginia school districts are so enthusiastic about electric school buses that they are rolling forward for plans without any state funding! Areas in Virginia and West Virginia are known for their energy contributions and the region is considered the energy capital of the country. With the Coalfield Solar Fund, this region can carry on its legacy by diversifying its energy portfolio and continue to support American manufacturing.

The Coalfield Solar Fund provides incentive grants, from founding partner and key fund contributor Intuit , and will be administered by The NEED Project , for K-12 public schools and community colleges in Virginia and West Virginia to go solar. Secure Solar Futures serves as the technical resource partner for this program.

Secure Solar Futures is excited to announce that Round 2 of the Coalfield Solar Fund is OPEN TO APPLY! It takes less than five minutes to submit a NOI 📲

The Coalfield Solar Fund was launched this year by founding partner and key funding contributor, , and administered by the National Energy Development Project NEED Project .

It will offer grants of up to $150K per awardee to help K-12 public schools and community colleges in selected areas of VA and WV to access solar energy affordably without high upfront costs. The program will incorporate STEM classroom curricula along with work-based learning opportunities for young people.
