Figure 1, now updated, is a diagrammatic representation of a ‘‘single’’ act (taking anywhere from a second to minutes) of perceiving and knowing (of cognition) understood as a recursive set of feedback loops leading to an emerging (i.e., an increasingly hypostatized) ‘‘solid’’ truth and a sense that ‘‘solid truth’’ arises, ‘‘flower-like,’’ along a continuum of “feeling,” “fact,” and “law” (what Charles Sanders Peirce calls Firstness, Secondness, and Thirdness—please read across the column heads). In this single figure are represented three “triadic modalities of cognition” (note that these modalities represent generically the “replication-transcription-translation process of heredity). At Int3rp Inc, all our AI (better, EI, Evolutionary Intellgence) work, is based on this model.

Hey, friends! Stay tuned for INT3RP INC's soon to be released hybrid D&D game / board game (Symbol Hunters) that we are designing as a training tool for teaching semiotic analysis to marketing & branding creative teams, to police officers and detectives, to medical professionals (for Continuing Medical Education [CME] credits), to videogame designers and AI researchers, et cetera. Here's one of the game's Semiotic Power-Play Cards, as an example.

Three more tools from our Symbologist's Toolchest, from the "Stop Watches" category, tools that measure the Diachronic Dimension (the Temporal Dimension) of semiosis—that is, how we stop, watch, and sometimes wind up with the signs that we want as they reveal their meanings over time: Can anyone give an example of one or of any of the effects or principles below?

1.1 The Eiffel-Tower Effect: Those signs that are often most resisted become the next generation’s icons.

1.2 Monaleasing Principle: As with images of the "Mona Lisa," sometimes the images of an original become more powerful than the original itself.

1.3 “Symbolic Linking”: As Robert Langdon helps us to understand in Chapter 3 of "The Da Vinci Code," some signs serve only to link others and remain unchanged—as do catalysts in chemical relations.

Have any questions about the semiotics of conspiracy theory? Ask your questions here! And, as a prompt, here is Prinicple One in INT3RP INC's The Semiotics of Conspirarcy Theory initiative: Conspiracy theories keep believers from seeing (or searching for) the real system that oppresses them, which is what the oppressor encourages! THE VIRTUREAL EFFECT (See the definition below!):

Beginning today, I will post, every other day, one of our (INT3RP INC's) 35 semiotic tools from our Symbologist's Toolkit. Today I start with, sort of randomly, Tool 2.2, THE VIRTUREAL EFFECT. And here's the real point—or question: who can give an example of how a given semiotic tool, in this case, "THE VIRTUREAL EFFECT," might be applied today in our efforts to better understand the world in which we live, or to create a better semiotic-marketing strategy?

2.2 THE VIRTUREAL AFFECT: The "virtureal effect" is the idea that the Sign of an Object can exist before the Object to which it ultimately refers does. Signs can create the Objects of the world. As the Jeep commercial says, “The things we make make us.” And Charles Sanders Peirce writes, “nothing can be more futile than to attempt to form a conception of the universe which shall overlook the power of representations [signs and symbols] to cause real facts” (322) “New Elements” (EP Vol. II). For example, Sherlock Holmes was a forensic detective in the virtual (fictional) world before there was ever a real forensic detective; the first real forensic scientist, Frenchman Edmond Locard (1877-1966), was called, ironically, the “Sherlock Holmes of France.” Life imitates art, indeed! Consider, for example, how many inventions today were first invented for the Star Trek television series. Any examples of “THE VIRTUREAL EFFECT” in play today?

It would be productive, I think, to analyze COVID-19 discourse in terms of my first three principles of semiotics:
PRINCIPLE 1: The Law of Affect: A symbol or sign is often more powerful (more flexible and efficient) than the object it represents.
PRINCIPLE 2: The Content-in-Context Principle: The very same symbol or sign can mean different things in different environments.
PRINCIPLE 3: The More-Else Measure: Signs shouldn’t merely stand for something else (a recipe for conspiracy thinking); signs should stand for something more than themselves (a basis for the science of semiotics).

Congratulations to Dennis J Tlachac for identifying the presence and role of pe**te in the posted image, a piece of art made of pressed string in bee's wax on a wooden frame that I purchased in Guadalajara, Mexico, at a Catholic Church. The artwork was created by a Huichol artist. The Huichol people are the People of the Deer; note the geometric deer head, as pointed out by Mr Tlachac. Also, note the narrative movement of the pe**te cactus from outside the deer head to inside the deer head, and then the representation of the eyes of the deer as pe**te cacti, and then the translation of the cactus to a transcendent position over the deer head. The Catholic devotional candles would seem to represent a religious syncretism or fusion: of Huichol and Catholic worldviews.

*******But there is one more key element to be identified and explained: the orange pendant-like image in the lower right-hand quadrant!*******
