As fireworks paint the sky with brilliant light,
first responders stand ready to answer the next call.

While many gather with family and friends,
they’re watching over communities,
keeping celebrations safe through the day and into the night.

When others run from danger,
they run toward it.

With courage, compassion, and unwavering dedication,
they sacrifice holidays, missed moments, and precious time at home
so others can celebrate in peace.

Today, we honor the firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, police officers, dispatchers, and every first responder serving while the rest of us celebrate.

We pray your shifts are safe.
We pray your calls are few.
We pray you make it home to the people who love you.
