Hand applied the interior finish of this home in Palmetto Bluff (Bluffton SC) with Portola Lime Wash. Unlike acrylic latex paint, Lime Wash is a traditional lime based coating that has been used for centuries. Due to it’s high PH, Lime Wash also acts as a mild fungicide, and is eco-friendly - containing zero VOCs.

Got the 4’ x 5’ oil painting back from the frame shop and installed at a beautiful home in Palmetto Bluff. Special thanks to Jim Leahy of Leahy Art Gallery in Richmond Hill for the custom frame and the extra help loading it in my truck. Here’s a few captures of the process along the way… from the inspiration shot (a boat dock near the property), a rough sketch, and process painting (with the addition of two Brittany Spaniels that belonged to the family).

Busy day yesterday! Started off in Palmetto Bluff… turned a yellow stone fireplace into a white stone fireplace with Pertola lime wash. Then visited a recently restored late 1800s cottage on Bluff Drive in Isle of Hope. Delivered gold leaf curtain rod finials, visited a pair of mid century chinoiserie chairs that I refinished in black lacquer (remind me not to do that again… 4 layers of fabric and thousands of staples to be removed), and a butlers pantry that I finished the cabinets with a crackled lime plaster. More to be done at a later date on this job… to all my customers, thank you for your patience!
