Hello everyone,
We have been out of the office for a couple of days with the snow. We have been checking for phone messages, but arrived this morning to find that the phone has not been working since around 6:30 yesterday evening. A small stream of running water can be very helpful in helping prevent frozen pipes. Also making sure that the crawlspace opening and foundation vents are closed. Opening cabinet doors to sinks that are on an outside wall is also a good idea. If you have an exterior well house check to make sure that your heat source is functioning. Also check heat tapes to be sure they are plugged in and operational. Insulating products may slow the rate at which cold temperatures effect the water in pipes, but remember that insulating products DO NOT create heat. Insulation is helpful but in itself will not prevent frozen pipes. Now may be a good time to familiarize yourself with how to shut off your water in a frozen and burst pipe situation. Shutting off the water quickly in the event of a frozen pipe can prevent 1000's of dollar in water damage to you property. Best wishes and stay warm.

It's going to be very cold the next few days. Make sure the crawlspaces are closed up, the heat tapes are plugged in and working, and unhook the hoses from the outside fsucets.. if you have had previous freezing issues, leave a small stream of water running and leave cabinet doors open under sinks. These tips may help you avoid a freeze up.
