We finished up our Milky Way photography workshop Saturday evening. Our attempt to shoot Friday night was a bust due to heavy rain and lightning in the vicinity. Saturday night we were treated to (mostly) clear skies and a great view of the milky way core. Many thanks to four great students!

Badlands Part 2
Eventually the skies cleared and the rain moved away. Finally, we had some sunlight to bring out the texture in the rock formations. Light and shadow do some wonderful things around craggy rocks and mountains!

I've been back from South Dakota now for just over two weeks and this is the first opportunity I've had to post any images from the trip. Most of the first three days or so in the Badlands NP were cloudy and rainy but the soft light and wet conditions were wonderful for bringing out the colors of the landscapes. Most times when faced with featureless white skies I do my best to angle the camera down or do a little cropping in post to eliminate that sky as much as possible.

In just a couple of days I leave for a 10 day trip to Badlands National Park in South Dakota with three very good friends of mine. I thought it might be fun to take a look at the equipment I pack for such a trip and so I posted a YouTube video showing my equipment and how it's packed. I'd be very grateful if you would take a look and, if you find it deserving, give it a thumbs up and share it with your friends. See the video at the link below.

In this video I describe and pack the equipment I'm bringing for a photography trip to the Badlands National Park.Equipment ListCanon EOS R5 bodySigma 14-24m...
