What do you know?
That's your first step.
When I decided to start my entrepreneurial journey, I had a full-time job, and I couldn't just quit.
I wondered:
What can I do now?
I knew I didn't have the capacity to take on clients while also performing at the same level in my full-time job as the head of marketing.
So I went for the easiest first step.
→ Write.
→ Share my knowledge.
→ Start a blog.
I had some people reach out wanting to consult.
It was proof that there was something there.
Then, when I decided to go full-time with my business, I realized there were many steps to take to build what I saw as possible.
→ Processes.
→ Finding help.
→ Building a website.
→ The list kept increasing.
Again, I thought about the easiest step.
And it was simple:
→ Update my social media.
→ Create my social media profiles.
So I did that.
Then boom!
A few people from my network reached out.
Then, I kept going from there.
Sometimes it can feel like the first step is hard just because we are thinking of the mighty big step.
Instead, once we break that big step into smaller chunks, it becomes easier and easier to start, try, fail, try again, keep learning and growing.
I started with the first, easiest step, which made it easier to keep going. Not because everything works as expected, but because you start to build habits of continuous movement.
I don't ask:
"How do I climb quickly to the top?"
I ask:
→ What's the path of least resistance?
→ What can I do now?
Not tomorrow.
Like right now, today.
So ask yourself, what do you know?
Because most of the time, the first easy step is known.
It's what comes after that that can feel a little tricky.
The good news that I've discovered is that life has a way of creating the pathway as you go.
Always start with the easiest first step.
Everything gets lighter afterward.
