How do you incorporate ?

I don’t consider myself much of a “game” person. Though I’m warming up!

Slowly.😆

I’ve played sports my entire life and would consider myself an , etc - but games??… meh.

It’s like sitting down to complete a puzzle.

Whyyyy?😜

I had to get out of my to embrace goofing off a bit, in ways that don’t typically look like “my version” of goofing off.

They have played this game (and many more) long before I arrived, and I’m actually… how should I say this… enjoying it!🙃🤩

In collaborative workplaces - it’s not about *me*, and if I didn’t do a self check I would’ve missed out on the fun and self discovery.

If you go into a situation knowing you’ve “got this” you will undoubtedly “get it”. Do the things. Learn the skills. Fill the gaps.

Look back on a past accomplishment… rarely we’re you fully equipped to outdo whatever it was. But - ya did it! Right?

Even reflection can build the baby bridge to confidence so you can take on another goal or skill. You’ve SO got this!

Stumped in a sales dialogue? Or even in a conversation with a friend or loved one?

Here are my top 6 conversational phrases to add, as adapted from the book “Exactly What to Say” by Phil Jones.

Take note: My faves are mostly questions, paint a picture, or open a dialogue to gain insight.

💡If you can’t gain insight, you can’t add value.

The goal is to understand as much as possible what exactly about *your* offer or desired outcome would your target. Whether your spouse, a peer, or ideal client.

💡Motivate derives from the word “motavus” or to TAKE ACTION. We have made it more of a word but - it is not.

💡Humans are inherently more motivated to avoid pain (and will work considerably harder to do so) than to gain pleasure.

💡Decisions are always made from a motive of emotion or logic- often both, however emotion comes first. Think of a time you left a conversation saying “it didn’t feel right”.

If you are tasked with overseeing people, you’re top priority and time spend should be on inspiring and motivating those people. Agree? 🤔🧐🤨

Consider:

📌How do I inspire greatness in others?

📌What does it look like to inspire and motivate people?

📌How do I measure engagement?

📌Do I understand and observe work habits & behaviors well enough to identify area of greatness *objectively*? (And conversely weakness)

📌How often can I dedicate to meeting individually with members of a team?

📌When I do meet with others, what format, questions, or tools do I use to have deliberate value add conversations that I can gain insight from?

I would argue that although powerful- it is simply not enough to lead solely by - great leaders have deliberate processes in place *beyond* influence, to truly bring out the best in their teams.♥️

Even if you only comply 60-70% of the time - you are winning. What are those rules and how are you scheduling them?

2. Do what you say you’re going to do. Stack those self esteem credits.

Ex: Geez I’m tired, I don’t want to go on date night … but I’m committed to building this relationship. He’ll (She’ll) understand 😒

Ex: I really want to get back in shape, but I had a long day and can use to catch up on Netflix. I’ll commit when I have more time.😒

Ex: Someone upset me I’m angry /upset /tired so …I’d rather snack and pour a drink even though I’m not hungry or thirsty. I’ll be better tomorrow 😣

Too often we allow our pesky (and very temporary) feelings & emotions shape our behavior- (me too!) that then, will shape your . Yes it will. 😳Keep taking the reigns back.

What do you want your identity to be?

For me, identity ties to who you are.

People ARE what they do & think consistently when nobody is watching.

What do you do? What do you say to yourself?

Who do you want to become? Are behaviors matching goals?🤔 Are you just going with the flow allowing any influence to affect you?

Think-Do you run your day or does every day run you?

When we take an action towards our goal- even when our bodies don’t feel like it, we change our neurobiology and build resilience.

Goal: Get to conscious competence ➡️ unconscious competence.🔥

Cool 😎 side effect? You become a influence over your circle, creating other “lighthouses”.

What are you committed to? Let’s start thinking about this before the new year. Be mindful and empathetic but don’t give up on who you want to be. Shine a light on wins while you challenge yourself. Wherever you want to go, you CAN go there.

Do you know someone who always seems to be complaining? About everything and anything?

Are you in a season where you find yourself complaining a lot? Even just internally?

🙋‍♀️Been there.

To shift this, consider these two questions:

1️⃣What is the lesson?

Maybe better preparation or implementing a new process to prevent whatever “the issue” was. Maybe it’s a lesson in communication; in saying no, or setting realistic expectations.

Not saying you will have the answer. However, by asking the question and discovering an issue or two, you can start to create awareness then reach out for guidance.

2️⃣What is there in this to be grateful for?

Maybe during that “crazy day” (where you felt overwhelmed & complained to the world) the newest person on the team had a great attitude - even though they didn’t have the skill set to really help out otherwise. They’ll build the skill and have a winning attitude.

That’s a huge win! Did you thank them?

Maybe it’s the barista at your favorite coffee shop having a laugh with you that morning. Do you recall? What was GOOD in the day?

When you have an attitude of - magic happens.

IN your day for you.

It just might look like saying “no” and checking in.

It’s so very EASY to say no nicely.

Knowing it’s at the benefit of your basic needs.

It’s also super EASY not to do - and to continue complaining and living in victim mode.

Thinking daily of the & rather than .

These are YOUR choices. Believe it or not- completely within your control.

🧐What are you *not* saying no to?

🕰No to long phone calls where you know your friend is just going to complain & gossip?

🕰No to staying up binging on tv?

🕰No to enforcing early bed time for everyone?

🕰No to sleeping in.

🕰No to taking on one more project. If you weren’t there would the world fall apart? They’d figure it out. Trust me - been there.🙋‍♀️

🕰No to enabling others?

🕰No to being the only one to do things around the house?

I have never thought poorly of *anyone* who said no because they put their basic needs first.

Maybe they’ve checked off social a bit. Not returned a call.

The transformative power of dedicated quite time with your most precious asset- *yourself* is so underutilized.

Consider:

💫When do I turn off all notifications- at night? During my workday? Just 5 minutes a day? Not at all?

💫Can I create a safe quiet spot for myself?

💫Do I know where to start? (Easy- start with eyes closed but looking at a 45 degree angle seated comfortably on your bed or chair in the am- breathe as you visualize an apple or orange on a white projector/movie screen in your mind. Make it more and more vivid)

💫Active meditation has been transformative for ME because like many of you- the idea of “clearing my mind” was laughable when I started spending time alone.

These are not new concepts. They are powerful. Just often forgotten, underutilized or dismissed in this “I want everything NOW” culture we often live in.

Yet more than in years past- we are careless wasters of this precious thing because we refuse to consider our .

It’s no ones “fault”- it’s just easy to fall into traps with so many . media, and true .

Parents? You know what I’m talking about🫂

We ourselves by our time. Allowing almost anything on a whim to come in and steal it. Distractions,”fun”, “relaxing”.
Why don’t we honor our time to fit activities deliberately in line with our purpose? Be people who live their values?

This isn’t a “slay all day” post. This is a “how to cultivate joy” in your mind heart and body - by *becoming aware* of the elements which comprise your time famine - then acting on it.

🔧Time affluence: We are so scheduled that we find ourselves in time famine, not allowing us time to do things that make us happy- like having coffee with a friend. We also spend more of our precious time in solitude-on social media.

Consider:

💫Can I take time to pick 2-3 roles I want to focus on this week? Examples are “wife”, “daughter”, “helper” (like volunteer), “athlete”, “learner”. Write them down.

💫Commit to a exact day and time you will honor your role in a way that corresponds with your values. Examples: Dinner with Mom on Thursday. Zumba on Tuesday/Thursday night 6-7pm. Pick a new book related to something you’ve been itching to learn about or that takes you to a fantasy land & decide the 10 minutes of the day you will fit it in. Maybe it starts as your bathroom reader🌝

💫By ADDING just a few committed events you will find that you will automatically, without much effort, find yourself eliminating those time hogs that don’t align with your vision.

We waste time doing the most frivolous things because we refuse to use tools and think on these things. Me too! If I don’t schedule in - I can watch ANY reality tv show for hours. TikTok. YouTube. False interaction.
