Traveling with a baby doesnât mean sleep has to fall apart. đ¤âď¸đ
We just got back from our trip, and while sleep definitely didnât look like it does at home, it reminded me of something I tell parents all the timeâŚ
Sleep doesnât have to be perfect to be successful.
At home, my daughter typically takes one 3-hour nap and has a consistent bedtime. While we were traveling, that just wasnât realistic.
Instead, we adapted.
Some days she took two shorter naps while we were out and about. Bedtime ended up being later than usual. Her schedule looked different almost every day.
Was sleep perfect? No.
But thanks to a few simple travel sleep tips/strategies (and the sleep skills she already had), she was still able to fall asleep and sleep through the nightâeven after days that looked nothing like her normal routine.
If youâre traveling soon, donât put pressure on yourself to recreate your home schedule exactly.
Focus on what you can control:
đ¤ Bring familiar sleep items.
đ¤ Keep bedtime familiar.
đ¤ Give yourself grace when it doesnât.
đ¤ Protect sleep when it makes sense.
The goal isnât a perfect schedule.
The goal is making memories while supporting your little oneâs sleep as best you can.
