Stink bugs are everywhere!

STINK BUGS: Has anyone noticed a high amount of these annoying pests lately? If so, you may not be alone. Stink bugs are looking for warm shelters as temperatures start to fall and the amount of daylight shortens. Of course, these are not the only critters looking for that. Some of you have sent me messages about these bugs being attracted to things like bird baths, cars, or simply just your home. What can you report? - 3:00 PM 10/2/2026

Check this out. 🕷️🕸️

What started as a routine pest control call in New Carlisle on Sept. 14 quickly turned into a rare discovery for Ken Hickerson, owner of Tipp City Pest Solutions.

Very unique find.

On September 14, while working in New Carlisle, I came across a spider that I believed was a northern black widow.

I knew that would be an unusual find for this area, so I reached out to an entomologist at The Ohio State University rather than simply assuming I had identified it correctly.

After reviewing the photograph and location, he confirmed the identification — and gave me some pretty incredible news:

“You reported the first confirmed northern black widow record for Clark County, OH.”

But there's an even bigger part of the story.

According to the records he checked, **this is the first documented black widow of any species in the Miami Valley area.**

The closest documented black widow record was 50 miles away!

The observation is now part of the public scientific record on iNaturalist:

I'm pretty excited about this one.

I've been working in pest control for over a decade, but this was a good reminder that you never really stop learning. Sometimes you come across something that makes you stop, take a picture, and ask an expert.

And sometimes that picture turns out to be a little more significant than you expected.

If you picked bed bugs, you're not alone. They're one of the most stressful pests a homeowner can deal with—but the good news is they can be eliminated with the right treatment.

Signs you may have bed bugs:
🩸 Small blood spots on your sheets
🔴 Itchy bites when you wake up
🐞 Tiny bugs or dark spots around mattress seams

The sooner you catch them, the easier they are to treat. If you think you have bed bugs, don't wait—give us a call before they spread. Did we mention Free Inspections?!

🚨 Bald-Faced Hornets Are EVERYWHERE This Year! 🚨

We're seeing an incredible 20-fold increase in stinging insect calls, and bald-faced hornets are one of the biggest culprits! 🐝😳

📸 Take a look at this massive bald-faced hornet nest our technician recently removed!

Bald-faced hornets are highly protective of their nests and can become aggressive if they feel threatened. Their nests are often hidden in trees, shrubs, under eaves, or attached to buildings—sometimes right where families spend the most time outside.

⚠️ Before mowing, trimming bushes, or cleaning around your home, take a few extra minutes to look for nests. It could save you from a painful surprise!

👇 We want to know:
Have you seen more bald-faced hornets around your home this summer?
🐝 Yes!
🙌 Not yet!
🤔 I think I have a nest!

If you spot a nest, don't take chances. Give Tipp City Pest Solutions a call, and we'll remove it safely so you can enjoy your yard again.
