Helpful Tips to Reduce Business Expenses
Tips to Reduce Business ExpensesIt's no mystery that the secret to increasing any businesses' profit margin is to get more business. It's also true that any business owner will tell you this is much easier said than done. What many entrepreneurs don't realize is taking a close look at their overhead and putting forth a more creative effort to use available resources can also make a great and long lasting impact on their bottom line.
Here are ten suggestions to help reduce business expenses without compromising the quality or integrity of how you conduct business.
Networking, Networking, Networking. Marketing and advertising costs got you down? Start leveraging the power of relationships. In the social age we live in there are an abundance of networking groups, Meetups (meetup.com) and local business development groups to be leveraged as relationships for business referrals or simply new ideas for marketing and technology. As you attend these groups and build relationships, trust is also built, increasing your chances for business referrals and new customers. Not to mention the power behind your existing satisfied customers. Brainstorm creative ways for them to help promote your business, even if it's just putting a quote from them on your website or giving them incentive to check in on social media at your location.
Be a Local Expert. Ready for another creative and affordable marketing strategy? Find ways to educate the community about your businesses' specific expertise, write an article, host a seminar or teach a small class. If you own a clothing boutique you can host seasonal fashion forums to talk about the latest trends or if you are a web developer you could host a class on best practices for business websites.
Pay Early, or Not. You may receive discounts for paying vendors or utility bills early. If not, keep that cash flow as long as possible without being charged late fees. Cash flow is good!
Credit Card Machines. Still accepting credit cards on slow, clunky credit card machines? Even worse, are they connected to landline telephones? If you answered yes to either of those questions - it's time to join the 21st century. First, you could possibly be paying leasing fees for that dinosaur credit card machine, not to mention the phone line. Second, all of that can now be handled from a PC or mobile device (smartphone or tablet). Updated technology will not only save you money, but will offer you more efficient and insightful ways to reconcile and track your money.
