Summer time brings lots of fun, but also unwanted guests. I don’t know about you but I’ve had spiders in every corner of my house! And spiders don’t mean your house is dirty or that you don’t keep things clean. It’s just what happens, spiders want dry safe corners to hatch their eggs in. But we can do a few things to deter them and discourage web building. Vacuuming regularly is big. I do this every other day in my house.
Not leaving piles of laundry is big! Dark damp places encourage huntsmen spiders. And spraying peppermint oil around door frames and window ledges, because most insects despise the strong smell.
But a good ole fashion cleaning routine is your biggest friend! And I’m offering $10 off your cleaning when you refer a friend!

Moldy grout... the bane to every cleaner’s existence. But never fear! The simplest cleaner solution is probably under your sink. Toilet bowl cleaner and a toothbrush work magic on these annoying cracks! Simply let it sit for five minutes then scrub away. The bleach in the cleaner helps destroy the mold spores in no time.

The benefits of cleaning on a schedule is that crud doesn’t build up like this... in turn you spend more time cleaning details like grooves. It took me almost two hours just for this kitchen! Nothing a magic eraser and some elbow grease can’t handle though!

Who doesn’t love soft carpet between their toes? But while they are soft and cozy, they also hold silent irritants that cause allergies, sneezing and bacteria. Not saying you should pull up all your carpet, but there are ways to reduce our rugs and carpeted rooms from being less harmful to our immune systems. I typically spritz carpets with lemon water before vacuuming so as not to kick up the dust as badly. And I vacuum my carpet every day. Sounds crazy right? Well, the left picture is from a small 2X3 rug, that’s regularly cleaned. The right pic is from a typical size bedroom, also regularly cleaned. Yet they both held over 1lb of dirt. Yikes!

Fall cleaning tip #3
Your home inflow vents often get overlooked since they are on ceilings or in small corners. But changing the filter regularly and cleaning the outside is important! Not only does it make your ventilation system run efficiently but it’s healthier to get dusty gunk out of the vents especially if you struggle with allergies. Simply use your vacuum hose and brush to make the difference!

Dollar store shoe holders... yep, your new multi purpose best friend! In organizing you can put your makeup in the handy pockets,shampoo and bottles, tools and extension cords, craft closets and spools of yarn. The uses are endless! Happy organizing!

Fall organizing tip #1!
Every girl has got to have her scarves right? And they don’t just pack up neatly in a drawer like a shirt unless you have loads of time to do so. Which no one does. So get a sturdy hangar...either a heavy duty one leftover from the dry cleaner or a pants hangar as pictured. And slap some old plastic shower rings in there. Costs you nothing and saves your sanity with trying to cram scarves in the closet or drawers!

Nothing like the fresh fall air to give you some extra motivation! I always get the urge to purge for the upcoming holidays because at the end of the year you know that you’ve held on to or not sorted through closets and nooks. This cleaning list has been super helpful to me to hit areas I don’t think of much. So open windows and get your pumpkin chai as you make your house as fresh as October feels!
