Sponsor Spotlight 🏗️
Meet Mac Hicks and the team at Zona Concrete & Construction - one of the sponsors who make everything we do at APLD Arizona possible.

Mac’s been in the concrete trade since he was 14, working the family business before eventually leading it. Three generations deep now, from driveways and foundations to pool decks and patios, he brings the same hands-on care to every job, whether it’s a homeowner’s backyard or a large-scale build.

If your next project needs concrete done right, this is who our members call. Go give Zona Concrete a follow, and thank you, Mac, for supporting Arizona’s design community.

A huge thank you to Artesana Tile!! One of the sponsors behind everything we do at APLD Arizona. 🧡

This is exactly the kind of partnership our community is built on: landscape designers, architects, interior designers, and artisans like the Artesana team, all pulling from the same well of inspiration. When a project calls for tile that feels more like art, this is where our members look.

Have you been to their Tucson studio yet? Go say hi to Artesana Tile | Tucson, AZ and thank you for supporting Arizona’s design community. 🙌

Designing well in the Sonoran Desert takes knowledge, craft, and community. APLD Arizona exists to build all three.

🌵 Events- Dinners, tours, mixers, and Dinner & Learns where real conversations happen. We also open our events to allied design professionals because we believe the best work happens when disciplines connect.
📐 Education - CEU opportunities and industry insight grounded in what it actually means to design for this climate and this ecosystem.
🤝 Community - A professional home for landscape designers, with deep roots in the broader Arizona design world.
🌟 Recognition - A platform for Arizona landscape designers and their work to be seen, celebrated, and taken seriously.

The desert is our design studio. Come do the work with us.

Every place has its own design language. Ours is written in saguaro and palo verde, in stucco walls and the kind of light that only happens here at golden hour.

We couldn’t resist giving our chapter a little visual identity to match.
This graphic is our love letter to the Sonoran Desert ✨ the APLD spirit, with an Arizona soul. A saguaro where the tree stands, and a sun that actually means something here. 🌵☀️

Not an official logo. Just a little desert pride.

Arizona landscape design isn’t about working around this ecosystem. It’s about designing with it and learning its language, respecting its logic, and creating spaces that feel like they were always meant to be here.

The Sonoran Desert doesn’t forgive uneducated design. The heat, the soil, the seasonal rhythms - they all have opinions! The landscape designers who thrive here have learned to listen.
APLD Arizona is the professional home for those designers. A community built around craft, education, and the kind of peer connection that makes your work better.
Events. CEUs. Member spotlights. And a design community that understands exactly what it means to work in this landscape.
Membership is open to landscape designers. Come find your people. 🌿

The Sonoran Desert is one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on Earth. It has its own palette, its own rhythm, its own rules.

Designing here isn’t like designing anywhere else, and the landscape designers who do it well know that the land is always part of the conversation.

APLD Arizona is the state chapter of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers. We exist to connect, support, and elevate the landscape design profession in Arizona. We are rooted in this ecosystem, and proud of the community we’re building around it.

The desert is our design studio. 🌵
