Hurrying slowly.

That’s the soundtrack for today—courtesy of my all-time fave, Robert Glasper 🎶
And honestly? That’s been the rhythm of this week.

I thought I was going to hit the ground running.
Turns out… I needed to walk. Breathe. Recalibrate.

I’m leaning into my anchor word for my 43rd birthday: UNBOUND.
Unbinding myself from time and from urgency.

And yes—I still have ish to do 😅
I’ll be back at it next week.

Until then… hurrying slowly.

Selah.

So what had happened was…

I had plans to post an end-of-year reflection and impact recap.
And then life started lifing.

A chickenpox scare + end-of-year exhaustion told me real quick:
this was a “we’ll circle back in the new year” situation.

Then I saw a ChatGPT year-in-review shared by —and that was a wrap!

I don’t always pause long enough to celebrate.
I usually move straight to the next thing.

Sitting with that reflection made something clear:
I almost missed the beauty of this year because I was focused on what I didn’t get to do.

And whew… I’m really proud of myself.

I’ve been working on this book for years.
And now it’s in its final round of revisions—officially on track to launch March 2026.
Yes, it will be a party. If you came to my baby shower, you already know. 😉

After three years in business, I thought I was stuck.
Turns out, I was expanding.

I’m simplifying my offers, leaning into the work I truly want to do, and entering 2026 with clarity and momentum.

And I’m claiming this fully:
I am a strategist.
I am a thought leader.
And I’m done playing small.

I’m building a brand that reflects who I am, the vision behind the GATES Academy, and my deep commitment to impact.
And I’m falling more in love with Tulsa as I step into greater leadership here.

Life didn’t follow the script I planned.
But it gave me exactly what I needed.

As I close out my reflections from the summit, I keep coming back to why this work matters so deeply to me: the power of storytelling to drive action.

It raises essential questions—
whose story is being told,
by whom,
for what purpose,
and with what data.

Stories don’t just reflect reality.
They shape decisions, policies, and outcomes.

One moment that continues to sit with me was Dr. Pasha’s call to move beyond “social determinants of health” and more accurately name political determinants. Policies tell stories—and too often, those stories are used to mischaracterize communities in ways we know are untrue.

I’ve spent nearly two decades in nonprofit and community-rooted spaces helping organizations use data and strategy to tell fuller, more accurate stories about their impact—stories that challenge harmful narratives and support better decisions.

This summit sparked meaningful connections and ongoing conversations.
If these questions are sitting with you too, I’d love to stay in conversation.

Tulsa has become one of my favorite classrooms.
The Tulsa Equality Indicators Report pushes me to think more deeply about where inequities show up — and what it means for me as a Tulsan and as an evaluator.

I’m attending the Tulsa Equity Summit on Friday, and this week I’m taking you with me. I’ll be sharing what I’m learning, the questions I’m asking, and tips for engaging with the report in a meaningful way.
I dropped the link below if you want to learn more or read the report for yourself.
Let’s get into this. Together.

Your workshop should have energy, actionable insights, and good vibes. And I don’t just facilitate: I get people talking, thinking, moving, and laughing while they learn.

I design sessions that are interactive, energizing, and grounded in real practice, not bullet points and slides. Whether I’m guiding a strategy session, an evaluation training, or a leadership retreat, my goal is simple: change the way workshops are done.

My sweet spots include:
• Evaluation and data storytelling
• Survey methodology and instrument design
• Strategic learning and planning
• Logic models, theory of change, and impact measurement
• Community-centered conversations
• Equity-driven leadership and capacity-building

If your organization is ready for a facilitator who brings clarity, energy, and real results, let’s talk.

We are in a funding crisis, and most people have no idea it’s happening.

According to the 2025 Give.org report, only 32% of Americans know that federal funding for nonprofits was cut this year. That silence is dangerous. These cuts are already reshaping programs, access, and opportunity.

They touched my world too.
This year, I lost three clients whose work was funded by the Department of Education. And when funding is interrupted, impact is interrupted. Students lose access. Communities lose support. Momentum breaks.

This is why our data has to become more than reporting.
It has to become advocacy.
It has to become truth-telling.
It has to become a mirror that says: Look. This matters.

And here’s the part we cannot ignore:
One in three people reported they would be more likely to support charities if they knew funding had been lost.
Awareness sparks action.

Nonprofit leaders are carrying so much right now. Shrinking budgets. Rising needs. Higher expectations. And most people don’t see what is being lost.

Your stories, your numbers, and your impact can move people.

Be well. Stay strong. Keep leading with impact.

Most nonprofits are doing incredible work…
but still stuck in activity tracking.

Tallies. Attendance. Outputs.
But none of that tells the story of real change.

As we move into 2026, organizations need more than data collection —
they need clarity, alignment, and a way to communicate their impact with confidence.

That’s why I created the 2026 Impact Kickstart ❤️

ne of my goals this year is to make BOSS MOVES—not just in business, but in building generational wealth for my daughter. 💜✨

Growing up, I thought “trust fund baby” only applied to the rich (i.e., not me). That was a scarcity mindset. Today, I learned otherwise.

💡 Key takeaways from our conversation that might help someone else
✅ Fiduciary advisors work in your best interest—not to sell products.
✅ A will is a list of wishes that goes through probate, is public, and can be contested.
✅ A trust ensures assets are distributed privately and as planned—with added protection.
✅ You put assets (e.g., real estate and non-retirement accounts) in a trust and designate how they’re distributed.
✅ HEMS (Health, Education, Maintenance, and Support) Clause ensures funds are used responsibly to support my daughter if I become incapacitated.
✅ 529 plan rules changed! If unused for education, funds can now be converted into a retirement account for your child. 🤯

My next step? Meeting with an estate planning lawyer to make sure my baby is a Trust Fund Baby—and raised with a mindset of ABUNDANCE. 🌱💰

✨ Better late than never—or maybe “late” is actually right on time. This year, I’m embracing a slower pace, finding peace in the rhythm of motherhood, and reflecting on what truly matters. As I set my intentions for 2025, I want to THANK YOU for being part of my journey. Your support means the world to me.

💬 How are you stepping into 2025?
