Be sure to take advantage of this event to properly dispose of your items for free!

🔥 Fire Prevention Week 2026 🔥
October 4–10

This year’s theme, “Charge Into Fire Safety,” highlights the importance of using lithium-ion batteries safely.

From phones and laptops to e-bikes, power tools and other everyday devices, lithium-ion batteries are part of our daily lives. When used, charged, or disposed of improperly, however, they can create serious fire hazards.

Charge Into Fire Safety:
✅ Buy Safe – Purchase batteries and devices from reputable manufacturers and trusted retailers.
✅ Charge Safe – Use the charger designed for your device, follow the manufacturer’s instructions, and never charge batteries on a bed, couch, or under a pillow.
✅ Recycle Safe – Never put lithium-ion batteries or devices containing them in the trash. Recycle them through an approved battery recycling program.
🔋 Have old batteries or devices to recycle? Join us Friday, October 9, at Lowe’s in Tuscaloosa for our Safe Battery Recycling Event. Bring your used batteries and devices with lithium-ion batteries and help lower the fire risk by recycling them safely.

Old Greensboro Rd. = Only a short .30 miles length starting at Ebenezer Ln. and ending before getting to Kateland Dr. -AND- only on 1 side of the road = 64.70 lbs! There was some illegal dumping that someone dropped & I was sick of driving by it!

Repurposed a found rim & tire into a bird feeder. The local birds are happy! 😉☺️

Spotted so much of this while in Seattle, WA. Seeing how the community fosters such a positive culture toward recycling and composting, supporting a movement for waste reduction is just amazing! Makes me feel good to see such things at restaurants and local stores.

Also, the composting sign lists straws and plastic utensils. For those unaware, those items in the Seattle area (and others) are often Bioplastics (PLA/PHA) and not Traditional Plastic that are petroleum-based. Traditional Plastic cannot be composted.

While visiting in Seattle, WA last week, I came across a book on some of the local history of Bainbridge Island, WA. While flipping through the pages, I came across this particular one that mentioned a local grocery shop that was established in 1910... Just look at all the litter on the ground then.

So sad to know litter problems were around then just as bad as they are now. When are we going to change our ways?

Cleaned up some new roads today that we haven't been on before, Arrowhead Rd, Longbow Dr, & Arrowhead Loop in Tuscaloosa County, AL. What originally looked like a short cleanup & not much trash resulted in us being fooled & collecting a total of 97.14 lbs picked up!

This photo never got posted, so I'm playing catch-up... & being sure to share the news of awesome people doing awesome things!

Northshore Trashformation & Slidell Synch welcomed Emma Jean to assist them at the old Kingspoint Soccer Fields in Slidell, LA to do a little clean-up.

They collected 42.43 lbs in about an hour!

Litter-pick on the north end of Maxwell Loop Rd from Old Greensboro Rd to Sunnyland Dr.

2 people, 3.5 hours = 57.44 lbs of litter + some type of metal frame that we didn't weigh.

There was a lot of trash this time, more than our last litter-pick of the area, which makes us sad & a lot of little pieces that weren't picked up before someone used a mower or w**d eater 😔🤦🏼🙄.

We still need to return to pick from Old Greensboro Rd to Hwy 69 S., but that will be for another day.

Visited Thomas Rd. again from Windswept Dr. to Old Greensboro Rd. = 47.46 lbs totaling 518 pieces of deleted litter. It's been just shy of 4 months since the last cleanup on that stretch. I'd say the area has made some improvements, but still has a lot of work to go!

Also a BIG thanks to The Kneading Grace for the delicious treat when they saw us at work! Look them up, try them out, support local! We will for sure be back!
