A new chapter begins! After 30 years (!) of consulting, I’m taking on a new role. I’m teaching Culinary Arts in the Anaheim Unified School District!

I am so blown away by all the tremendous support from my family, friends and colleagues. From my besties thoughtful gifts, my sister Gina and Robert’s food donations, sister Carla made this amazing floor sticker, and lastly, my honey helped set up my room. I’m carrying with me all of the encouraging words I’ve received as I enter this new and challenging chapter in my career. I can’t thank you enough. 💓💓💓

Hey friends and fam, just wanted to thank everyone for reaching out regarding the garden grove chemical incident. We are only 1 mile away from the facility and evacuated Friday morning.

It was beyond alarming to wake up to police on our street announcing evacuation orders! We packed up the essentials + all the wedding necessities while minimizing exposure to the outdoors. We are staying at my boyfriend’s house a few miles away. The last two days of school have transitioned to online for my son (talk about Covid flashbacks).

We are hoping for a miracle and for this chemical to be contained. Something like this facility has absolutely no business in close proximity to suburban neighborhoods. It’s especially concerning for vulnerable residents and hope they’re getting the shelter and care needed.

Right now we are focusing on celebrating my niece and can’t wait for the much anticipated wedding! We’re so grateful to be safe and surrounded with love and support. Thanks again for checking in.

What an amazing day— I attended the dedication of the Mendez Freedom Trail. Mendez v. Westminster set a precedent that helped desegregate schools in the Brown v the Board of Education case. It is thanks to the progressive minds and courageous families in our great state that helped make history and carry freedom forward.

I happened to meet a Chicano Studies professor at the event and she is working on a documentary on the Mendez case. I shared how the Mendez family inspired me and is in my book.

I’m still processing the magnitude of this event. I am so incredibly honored and humbled by this recognition. Volunteering for the
for the last 10+ years has been such an amazing experience and one that I could not have done without the help of caring volunteers, donors and the vision of the Club’s leadership. To think of all the kids that have been supported through these private dinners and cooking classes leaves me speechless.

The energy at this celebration was incredible and the support from my loved ones is something I’ll always cherish!
