It's Francis Crick's birthday, one of the scientists who discovered the structure of DNA, the biological molecule of hereditary information, and cracked the genetic code by which DNA codes for proteins. Crick's work led to breakthroughs in genetic engineering and gene sequencing and gave birth to the biotechnology industry as we know it today.
