Per Intuit, “Starting July 1, 2026, QuickBooks Online Payroll will automatically pay and file all payroll taxes that are already set up. You’ll no longer be able to manually submit payments or filings for those taxes in the Payroll Tax Center, and the option to turn off automated taxes will be removed from payroll settings.”
This may be convenient for some, but for other small business owners, you still may need to review your taxes prior to sending. Other small business owners may need a little more time. The IRS is usually very helpful and understanding with these situations. Of course, Intuit, like all businesses, has an obligation to stay in compliance. Small businesses should always have their portion of payroll taxes ready to be paid at the pre-set due dates, but sometimes life just gets in the way. Small business owners: If you owe the IRS, don’t panic, but don’t ignore it.

There’s a program many people don’t know about called an Offer in Compromise (OIC). If you qualify, the IRS may allow you to settle your tax debt for less than what you owe.

Yes… less.

Not everyone qualifies, but if your business has been struggling financially, it’s absolutely worth looking into.

Before you assume you’re stuck with the full balance, check your options at irs.gov/oic.

Sometimes the biggest relief comes from simply knowing what’s possible.
