There are moments in leadership that remind you exactly why you do what you do.

Today is one of those moments.

Watching two incredible individuals qualify for Executive Council is something I’m deeply proud of; not just because of the accomplishment, but because I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the journey that got them here.

Jane Thomas, FSCP, I still remember interviewing you almost two years ago. You came into this career as what I jokingly called a little “baby chick” 🐣; eager, humble, and willing to learn. You trusted the process, embraced every challenge, and continued to grow through every season. Today, you’ve spread your wings into an eagle 🦅. You’re an established financial professional, building your own office, developing a brand of your own, and proving that consistency and coachability will always win. It has been one of the greatest joys of my career watching your transformation.

Wilfredo Mendez, MS, CFP®, ChFC®, where do I even begin? While I’ve had the privilege of helping develop you in this profession, the truth is that you develop me just as much. In so many ways, you exemplify the type of man, son, leader, and human I aspire to be. Your integrity, humility, discipline, and unwavering commitment to excellence are qualities that inspire everyone around you; including me. Every conversation with you leaves me better than I was before, and I am grateful for that.

People often think leadership is about teaching. What I’ve learned is that the best leaders are also lifelong students. Coaching incredible people like Jane and Wilfredo has challenged me to become a better leader, a better mentor, and a better person.

Congratulations to you both on earning Executive Council. This recognition is a reflection of the lives you’ve impacted, the families you’ve served, and the standard of excellence you’ve chosen to uphold.

I’m incredibly excited to celebrate this milestone with you both, but I’m even more excited about what’s ahead. I can’t wait to continue building our collective vision; professionally, personally, and as Team Apex. The summit is still ahead, and I couldn’t ask for better people to climb it with.

Announced for April 2, the term refers to the Trump administration’s planned rollout of reciprocal tariffs aimed at trade partners with big surpluses and steep barriers to U.S. exports.
