Painting over mold doesn’t make it go away. 👀

It may look better, but covering visible mold doesn’t address why it grew, what materials may be affected, or what could still be behind the surface.

Back On-Site for Contents Recovery 📦

Following the severe July storm that tore the roof off this commercial complex, our team was cleared to return on-site today to continue our work!

Air Care Restoration was hired specifically to handle the contents inventory and pack-out for the business owners. Because the building was closed for mandatory structural evaluations, the trapped moisture from the open roof created extreme relative humidity inside the unconditioned space over time.

As a result, severe secondary growth took over walls, ceilings, and contents throughout the complex. Our team is now hard at work picking up where we left off—documenting, inventorying, packing out contents, and helping several business owners navigate their loss with their insurance carriers.

💡 Restoration Tip: Standard fans just blow humid air around. True structural recovery requires industrial moisture control to stop secondary loss before it starts.

A fire in one room doesn’t stay in one room.

We recently started mitigation on a home where a fireworks accident in the garage caused a fast-moving fire.

Thankfully, the physical fire was quickly contained—but the soot had other plans.

Because soot particles are incredibly tiny and chemically charged, they traveled through the HVAC system, settling on every single wall, ceiling, light switch, and cabinet throughout the entire house.

The Origin Point: The heavy soot and structural damage where it all started.

Not a Spiderweb!: See those dark webs in the corners? Those are actually soot tags. Hot, ionized plastic particles attract each other in cold corners, forming "chemical webs." (Never try to sweep these off—they will instantly smear and stain!)

The Hidden Trap: Look at the heavy soot caked on the return air grill. This is how soot sneaks into the lungs of the home.

Our crew is currently on-site performing a meticulous top-to-bottom clean of every ceiling, wall, trim piece, appliance, and duct line to make this home safe, clean, and smelling fresh again.

Racing the clock after the storm to save Wadley EyeCare 🆘

When a severe storm tears the roof completely off a commercial building, every second counts.

The team at Air Care Restoration was called in to help Dr. Wadley at Wadley Eyecare after a devastating collapse left multiple tenants displaced and the front entrance completely blocked by debris.

With a structural engineer assessing the building and a mandatory city shutdown looming on Thursday, our contents team had to move fast.

Working diligently through the limited access areas, our crew packed out and safely transported specialized exam chairs and vital diagnostic equipment from both exam rooms into our secure facility, saving as much as possible to help Dr. Wadley prepare for his next chapter and a new building 🏠

After the city officially closed access for safety evaluations, we helped facilitate the securing of the site. A huge shoutout to our good friend Craig McCartney with Briercroft Equipment Rental for moving swiftly to get security fencing set up around the perimeter!

Last night’s storms caused significant damage across Abilene and the Big Country. Homes, businesses, churches, and other properties throughout our community have been affected by high winds, heavy rain, and lightning.

As everyone begins assessing the damage today, we want our community to understand something important:

Stopping the source of the water is only the first step.

Water can travel into insulation, ceilings, walls, flooring, and other areas you may not be able to see. The same is true following a lightning strike or fire—smoke, soot, water, and other damage may still need to be properly addressed after the immediate danger has passed.
