Explain to me how drainage gutters leading to a sub pump within the depth of the floor is supposed to allow anything to actually drain. The previous system was set up in a way that no water was actually going to drain out of the floor without some sort of vacuum system, which they did not have.
As you can see, we are rerouting the drainage. We have it set to proper depth, and we are placing the sump basket in a new location. 👍

Excessive flooding leads to excessive drainage.
We’re back in Scarsdale, New York. This property has a small stream on it that when it overflows it floods the basement with its close proximity. As you can see, we installed excessive drainage along with strong pumping power to remove the water from this basement should this stream overflow in the future.
Manage the water and you’ll have dry basement 👍

This is the way a crawlspace should look 👀

Peter’s back at the block foundation in Weston today explaining something most homeowners don’t realize. 👂
Cinder block is hollow. Water finds its way into those cores and sits there, trapped inside the wall itself. You won’t see it, and no amount of sealing the surface does anything about it.
That’s what weep holes are for. We open a path at the base so trapped water drains out of the block and into the system instead of staying in your foundation.

Final touches on this one. ☝️
This is what it was building toward. Everything we cleared out, all the stone and drainage that went in underneath.
A big basement oil tank is the kind of obstacle a lot of crews work around instead of under. We went under it.

Shovels, buckets, and a whole lot of debris coming out 🪏🪣
This is the part of the job that vanishes completely once the floor is poured. Which is exactly why it’s the first thing cut of skimped on when a crew is racing to finish. Every bit of unneeded material has to come out before drainage can go in at the right depth and pitch.
Skip it and the system is compromised before the first gutter is set.

Peter’s pointing at something most homeowners often don’t realize 👇
These gutter systems come with little access traps built in so you can stick a power washer down there and blast out iron ochre that forms. Which is a bacteria that builds up and chokes the line. The ports exist because clogging was expected from day one.
Pitch a system correctly and you’re not constantly fighting that battle. Also, notice the pieces coming out here? Completely dry. They were never sitting where the water actually is 🤯

Most homeowners write their crawl space off entirely.
⬇️
We’re in Roxbury today doing a full cleanout of an unusable crawlspace area. Every bit of old debris has to come out, the whole space will be sanitized and prepped so it can actually be used for storage instead of avoided.
That’s square footage the homeowner already paid for. Stay with us and watch it turn into something functional.

You’ll never believe where we ran this discharge line!
I know it sounds crazy, but we are actually able to bury the discharge line in the drainage trench. We ran it along to a spot that it could run out through the exterior wall allowing for proper drainage. Even though the sump pump is on the completely opposite side of the room 👍
Believe in yourself’s kids! Anything is possible 🤯
