How do you study a 2,000-year-old artifact… without touching it?
The faced exactly that challenge.
Two ancient Roman marble heads — including Emperor Lucius Verus — were mounted on fixed metal pins, making it impossible to examine critical surfaces without invasive methods.
So instead of risking damage, they turned to 3D technology.
We 3D scanned each sculpture on-site using high-resolution capture, digitally removed the mounting pins, and created precise 3D-printed replicas — allowing researchers to study every detail safely.
