What happens when we forget Quality Assurance is a craft?

Funny little bug in the online store of this international brand.

If you need to delete something from the shopping cart, the trash can runs away from the mouse cursor!

Not all misses are so cute though, and this is 100% preventable through careful quality assurance oversight. That means finding and testing *every* branch of the workflow, with all relevant browser/platform combinations.

We often read that Leadership is practiced and honed over time. The same can be said of any skill set- manufacturing, distribution, software development… and assuring the quality of a product.

QA is a craft, requiring skill, rigor, and vigilance.

Amazon announced Alexa for Hospitality in June of 2018.
So, where is it?
Certainly, there could be many reasons that we haven't seen the adoption of an Alexa concierge service in hotels - training hotels on new tech, implementation issues, making the system easy for patrons to adopt, privacy concerns of patrons and staff alike, the list goes on...

I for one would be glad to have a tech-forward hotel experience. I can't tell you the number of times I have wished for my Alexa devices as I stumbled around a hotel room in the dark trying to find a lamp switch or battled hotel wifi signup trying to search for restaurants.

What we're reading: From Battery, very interesting examples of conversational AI models.
TLDR The take away is - we probably won’t notice when we’re having "natural" conversations with machines. The incremental changes are continuous and subtle.
