🌳 DID YOU KNOW? | WOOD EDITION

🪵 “Hardwood” doesn’t necessarily mean the wood is hard.

The terms hardwood and softwood actually relate to the type of tree—not simply how hard the lumber feels.

Hardwoods generally come from broad-leaved trees such as oak, maple, walnut and poplar. Softwoods generally come from conifers such as pine, spruce and fir.

And here’s the surprising part:

Some hardwoods are softer than some softwoods.

That’s why choosing lumber should be based on the species, its properties and the application—not just whether it’s called a hardwood.

Tip Tuesday: Caulk Should Finish the Job—Not Fix It

Quality trim work starts with accurate measurements and clean cuts.

While caulk is great for creating a seamless finished appearance, it shouldn't be used to hide large gaps caused by poorly fitting joints.

A tight cope or miter will always outperform a heavy bead of caulk over time.

Remember:
Measure twice.
Cut once.
Finish with precision.
