🚢🏆 One of Our Own Is a NATIONAL BNI Extravaganza Winner! 🎉

We are excited to celebrate our very own Candice Alcott in BNI 918 Networkers, who was selected as one of the national winners of BNI's annual Extravaganza drawing! Along side her is none other than BNI - Green Country Business Alliance - OK, USA, Joseph Alcott! (A power team as both members are a part of local BNI chapters!)

Each year, BNI rewards members who help grow their chapters by inviting visitors who become members. Candice's commitment to growing her network earned her an incredible opportunity, a cruise for two, courtesy of BNI aboard Royal Caribbean's Ovation of the Seas, including a guest! 🚢

With more than 100 BNI members from across the country in attendance, this wasn't just a vacation. It was an opportunity to build relationships, exchange ideas, and connect with business professionals who share BNI's philosophy of Givers Gain®.

And one of the biggest highlights? Getting to spend time with Dr. Ivan Misner, the founder of BNI himself!

During the cruise, Candice had the opportunity to:

🌟 Attend two presentations led by Dr. Misner.

📚 Have books personally signed by him.

🍽️ Enjoy dinner with the founder of the world's largest business networking organization.

🤝 And yes… even log an official BNI 1-to-1 with Ivan Misner himself! How many people can say that?!

We love seeing our members represent 918 Networkers on a national stage!

Candice's experience is a great reminder that BNI is so much more than a weekly meeting. It's about building genuine relationships, opening doors to new opportunities, and surrounding yourself with people who want to see you succeed.

BNI SPOTLIGHT

One of the things I enjoy about BNI is getting to know other local business owners and learning more about what they actually do, says fellow member Deborah Jenkins!

This week, I want to highlight fellow BNI 918 Networkers member Caitlyn Grossardt, owner of Castle Creative Agency.

Caitlyn is a local ORU graduate, artist, and illustrator, including the children’s book Howard and the Big Storm. She also helps businesses with logo creation, branding, and brand strategy.

One thing Caitlyn emphasizes really stuck with me:

Your logo isn’t your brand.

A logo is an important visual representation of your business, but your brand is much bigger. It’s the message you communicate, the experience people have with your company, what they remember about you, and ultimately what they expect when they see that logo.

As small business owners, we can spend a lot of time thinking about what our logo looks like. Caitlyn reminds us to think just as carefully about what our business stands for when people see it.

It’s always good to have talented local professionals in your network and even better when you can learn something from them.

Another great week at 918 Networkers!

This week we celebrated more than $29,900 in business passed between our members in just the last week. That’s what happens when relationships turn into referrals and referrals turn into real business.

We also got to hear from our featured presenter, Caitlyn Grossardt with Castle Creative, our Graphic Designer!

Caitlyn helps businesses bring their brands to life through creative, professional design that makes their message stand out and connect with the right audience.

Great relationships. Great businesses. And nearly $30,000 in business passed in one week.

💜 This week’s featured presentation was one that truly matters.

Thank you to Murray Papke with The Spring Shelter for sharing with BNI 918 Networkers about the incredible work happening right here in the Tulsa area to help individuals and families affected by domestic violence, sexual violence, human trafficking, and stalking.

What stood out to us is that The Spring is so much more than a crisis shelter. Their services meet survivors at different stages of their journey:

🏠 Emergency Crisis Shelter, immediate, safe and confidential shelter for survivors and their children escaping abuse.

🌿 Transitional Living, longer-term, private housing where survivors can continue rebuilding their lives while receiving support such as case management, counseling resources, legal assistance, transportation assistance, career and educational support, and parenting and family support.

💜 Non-Residential Services, help for survivors who do not need full-time shelter, including case management, support groups, counseling and mental health resources, legal aid, safety planning and even virtual advocacy, allowing someone to receive help without necessarily entering a shelter.

And this is where our network can help.

👉 Think beyond the person who may need their services. Think about the organizations that need to KNOW these services exist.

Do you know a church, business, school, medical office, ministry, civic organization, community group or other organization that would benefit from hearing from The Spring?

The Spring provides educational opportunities and trainings for churches, businesses and community groups to help more people recognize abuse and trafficking, understand the resources available, and know where to turn when someone needs help.

Referrals can grow a business in a lot of different ways… but not all referrals are created equal. 👏

There’s:
🔹 Word of mouth- authentic, but unpredictable
🔹 Customer referral programs- great for volume, but often incentive-driven
🔹 Business-to-business referrals- valuable connections between complementary professionals
🔹 Structured referral networks- intentional, consistent, and built on relationships and accountability

That last one is where BNI 918 Networkers comes in. ❤️

We don’t just show up, exchange business cards, and hope someone remembers what we do.
We meet consistently, learn each other’s businesses, build trust, and become confident referring one another when the right opportunity comes along.

Because the best referral isn’t just, “I know somebody.”

It’s “I know someone I trust, and I think you should talk to them.”
