It's easy to measure the health of a relationship by how often conflict comes up, but conflict is actually an important part of healthy relationships.
Healthy relationships move towards connection, even in the midst of conflict. That looks like both people listening, taking responsibility, being respectful, and working toward repair. Sometimes that means taking a break before continuing a difficult conversation. Sometimes it means acknowledging the hurt before trying to explain your intentions.
Healthy relationships aren't conflict-free. They're relationships where both people keep learning how to navigate conflict together.
