Pep talks can encourage confidence in children, but giving them real-world skills helps that confidence truly grow!

When kids have skills they can use to navigate any space where they embrace new experiences and practice respect for others, they start to carry themselves differently.

That’s why even a chopsticks lesson is so integral to their future success. It’s full of small moments that help build curiosity, social confidence, and independence that stays with them for life.

Etiquette lessons are so much more than just what to do at the dinner table.

It’s about equipping the next generation with the foundation they’ll need to navigate every room with confidence and ease while extending respect to those around them.

And that is at the core of what Scarlet is all about – making the next generation of upstanding individuals.

Etiquette pop quiz:

How should you fold a napkin in your lap?
What’s the proper way to eat with chopsticks?
When should you send thank you notes?

Our PG County kids learned all this and more during one of our dining etiquette lessons.

Scarlet Communications is devoted to giving the next generation the foundation they need to feel confident in any setting! And it all starts with teaching the skills they’ll take with them into the future!

Now question for you – should you fold your napkin in a triangle or rectangle before placing it on your lap? 👀

Where did you learn how to use chopsticks for the first time?

From sushi nights to your favorite Asian restaurants, chopsticks are a dining staple – but let’s be honest, not all of us grew up feeling confident using them.

That’s where Scarlet stepped in ✨

Last week at Central Michigan University, students from Summit Academy North High School | Charter High School of Romulus, MI and the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy got a hands-on lesson in mastering this essential dining skill—and they absolutely nailed it.

Now? They’re ready to walk into any dining space with confidence (and maybe even show off a little 😉).

Where did you learn how to tie a tie?

The beaus from the Prince George’s County Cotillion learned at an etiquette training hosted by Scarlet.

Men who were once in their same position — unsure if their knot looked right and hoping to make a strong impression — stepped in to teach them a simple, foundational knot.

A knot they’ll carry with them into job interviews, formal events, and important moments for years to come.

Because etiquette isn’t really about forks and knives.
It’s about confidence.

It’s about knowing you can walk into any room and show up as your best self.

And while some may think etiquette lessons are unnecessary,
these young men walked away with a skill they’ll use for life.

Sure, your young man may know how to hold a door open, but does he know what it means to show up confidently in any space?

We sat down with teens from TCDSEF to chat through etiquette and two things hit home for them:

✅ Emotional maturity — knowing how to respond, not react
✅ Presentation — dressing for the room and showing up ready

Because how you show up says everything before you speak.

At Scarlet Communications, we teach young men that etiquette isn’t old-fashioned – it’s how you put your best foot forward. 👟

Things they don’t teach you in school:

Confidence in every space.

Confidence doesn’t start in the moment.

It starts with preparation.

And we had the great honor of working with the wonderful young ladies that make up the Delta G.E.M.S on just that during the 2026 Etiquette, Good Manners & Tea event this month!

At Scarlet, we believe the way to set out next generation up for success is with etiquette training to give them the real-life skills needed to navigate every space.

Because knowing what to do changes how you show up.

And how you show up changes everything.

Quick etiquette quiz:

Where does the bread plate go?
Where do you start with utensils?
What do you do with your napkin if you leave the table?

These PG County Cotillion teens had the answers ready.

Scarlet Communications is proud to serve as the Official 2026 Etiquette Service Provider, helping students build the confidence and life skills they’ll carry into every room they enter.

Which question would have stumped you? 👀
