Core Value Spotlight: Recognition

Good morning everyone! Today, I’m highlighting one of the most energizing values we live out here in BNI: Recognition.

Let’s be honest—we all light up when someone notices our efforts. Whether it’s a closed referral, a great 60-second presentation, or just showing up consistently—being recognized makes us feel seen. And that’s not just fluff—it’s neuroscience.

When we receive recognition, our brain releases dopamine, the feel-good chemical tied to motivation, focus, and yes—mojo. That little spark can turn into a fire that fuels our confidence to go after the next deal, make that extra call, or follow up on that lead we’ve been hesitating on.

Now on the flip side—giving recognition is just as powerful. It reinforces connection, builds trust, and strengthens our chapter culture. When we pause to celebrate others, we shift out of competition and into community. And in BNI, community is everything.

Here’s the trick: receive recognition graciously. Don’t brush it off with “oh, it was nothing.” Own it. A simple “thank you, I really appreciate that” allows others to give authentically—and it reinforces that positive feedback loop we all need to grow.

Core Value Spotlight: Building Relationships

At North County Diamonds – BNI, we believe business is built on trust—not transactions. That’s why we focus on building real relationships with the people in our chapter. The more we know, like, and trust each other, the more we grow together.

Several of our members are getting together for social events, supporting each other's non-profit endeavors, and becoming friends. Plus, we are doing quite a bit of business with each other!
