November 14, 2024

Houma Man Arrested for Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material

Houma – In October of 2024, the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit (LSP SVU), working in conjunction with the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, began an investigation on 52-year-old Darren Bontempo of Houma into the possession of child s*xual abuse material.

On November 13, 2024, LSP SVU Investigators executed search and arrest warrants at Bontempo’s residence, resulting in his arrest. Bontempo was charged with LRS 14:81.1 - Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material Under the Age of 13 (33 counts) and booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Center. This investigation remains active and ongoing.

LSP SVU works to rescue and seek justice for the victims of crimes involving the exploitation of children and the trafficking of humans for s*x or labor through investigative partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and through public education. The public plays an important role in identifying suspects accused of these crimes and is urged to report criminal or suspicious activity. The Louisiana State Police online reporting system is available to the public through an anonymous reporting form that is submitted to the appropriate investigators. Sorrento Man Arrested for Possession and Distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material

Sorrento – In August of 2024, the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit (LSP SVU), working in conjunction with the Attorney General’s Office and the Department of Homeland Security / Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), began an investigation into the possession of child s*xual abuse material. The investigation resulted in the arrest of 30-year-old Jesse M. Nigro of Sorrento.

On November 12, 2024, Investigators executed search and arrest warrants at a residence belonging to Nigro, where he was arrested and charged with Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material under the age of 13 (2 Counts) and Distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material under the age of 13. Nigro was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. This case remains active and is ongoing pending further investigation.

November 14, 2024

Louisiana State Police Requested to Investigate St. James Parish Murder-Suicide

St. James Parish – On November 13, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Louisiana State Police Region 1 Criminal Investigations Division (LSP CID) was requested by the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office (SJPSO) to investigate a murder-suicide that occurred in Convent, LA.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the Gonzales Police Department (GPD) and Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO) were involved in a vehicle pursuit that ended in St. James Parish. After the pursuit, it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old male, sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Additionally, there was a 1-year-old child who was a passenger in the vehicle who suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased on the scene.

LSP CID will serve as the lead investigating agency, and SJPSO will assist. The investigation remains active and ongoing. No further information is available at this time.
