It’s Pit Bull awareness month and we want to shed some light on these wonderful companion dogs ❤️ First off, did you know that ‘Pit Bull’ is not an actual dog breed? ‘Pit Bull’ is a blanket term used for several breeds of dogs that can include American Bulldogs, Staffordshire Terriers, and even Bull Terriers 🤔 In fact, almost any dog with a slightly square face and muscular body can get labeled a Pit Bull, even though they vary in size, coloring and temperament.
 
“Why are there so many Pit Bulls in shelters?” 💔 Pit Bull-type dogs happen to be one of the most popular dogs in the US, which leads to overbreeding and over population 🫤 Sadly, they are also the dog most discriminated against by landlords and home owners associations, which means these dogs have nowhere to live 😔 Most of the Pit Bull-type dogs in our shelter come in because the pet’s owner cannot find a home that will accept their dog 💔
 
“How can I help?” You can help put an end to overbreeding and backyard breeders by always adopting and never shopping for your new pet ❤️ All across the country there are amazing dogs and puppies, even purebreds, that are in need of loving homes!

This shirt is in amazingly good condition for being 23 years old.

My time on the Rifle Team was unique and one I will always be honored to have been a part of. I wasn't the best, but I was pretty damned good at hitting things from REALLY far away.

This comes from coaching for the Junior Nationals, and oddly enough them team I was assigned to was the Ohio team. Who knew I'd end up staying here and making a life.

Just a few weeks ago, Broccoli Cheddar found his way into our lives through a challenging journey. Rescued from a hoarding case via CACC, this precious 3-month-old Chihuahua mix stole our hearts instantly with his infectious charm and undeniable spirit.

Despite his rough start, Broccoli Cheddar is a shining example of resilience and love. He's adapted to his new surroundings with grace and is thriving every day, spreading joy wherever he goes with his adorable puppy antics and unwavering enthusiasm for life.

Posted • Today, University Hospitals and Metro Health teamed up to provide a regional training day for TEMS personnel under their medical direction. This training was strictly SWAT based scenarios and included breacher down, extrication from different buildings, and a full transport scenario in a moving vehicle.

Both hospital systems see a need for this type of TEMS support and look forward to providing this type of training to the TEMS personnel under their medical control.

Posted • 📸: : US Border Patrol recently apprehended Basel Bassel Ebbadi, a Lebanese migrant who confessed to being a H3zbollah member with intention of constructing a bomb which he would use in New York. He later claimed he was attempting to flee Hezbollah and Hamas to avoid violence. 12 March 2024

While in custody he asked what he was doing in the US, to which he replied: “I’m going to try to make a bomb,” according to a Border Patrol document.

In a subsequent sworn interview, Ebbadi said he had trained with Hezbollah for seven years and served as an active member guarding weapons locations for another four years, according to internal ICE documents.

I was standing in line at the drug store on my way home from work today, lost in whatever thoughts I had about the evening or the weekend tomorrow. My feet hurt and I'm tired.

For some reason I happened to realize I was still in my scrubs. Not out of the ordinary...I had just left... but these particular scrubs had seen me put a 2 month old little girl in a post mortem bag only a few hours earlier. It still has fuzz on it from the blanket we wrapped her in. We did everything we could, it just wasn't in the cards.

I had a philosophical thought, "I'm standing in line with all of these people going about their normal day and not a SINGLE one would ever guess what I witnessed this morning." In my head I guess I chuckled a bit at the notion.

It's the oddly cold and macabre nature of what we do. Death is part of a shift, whether we like it or not, and as the poem goes, "King and villain, lad and lass, all answer to the hourglass."

Am I sad? Yeah. I'm not a softy, but this one sucked ass.

Will I carry yet another set of memories with me having to sit and bear watching the agonizing grief of a family member? Yep. It joins a few doozies.

But that's why we are able to do what we do....what others can't or won't. You do your best, you sit in your car and cry for 15 mins and you pack it away.

I don't know what else to say. I guess the point of this whole thing is just to give the people in medicine grace... or a police uniform...or any profession where we have to perform on the worst day in someone's life. Most of us have to bear it and move on to the next person who needs us. Nothing in medicine happens fast, so give us room to do what we need to. The person in the space next to you, or the call before you, could have breathed their last in a room full of strangers. We will always come when called upon.

I feel honored to be one of the ones who carry heavy things so others don't have to.
